Honda S2000 Involved in Eye-Opening Street Racing Crash
Street racing has arguably never been more popular, but it's still incredibly dangerous.
Sad Event
While celebrated in some circles, street racing is also inherently dangerous, a hobby that has resulted in far too many fatalities over the years. That was also, unfortunately, the case in Ontario, Canada, recently after a street race ended with one driver losing control, rolling their car, and perishing at the scene. Thus, the Ontario Provincial Police began searching for the occupants in the other car involved in this street race - a white S2000.

Seeking Information
"This Honda stopped at the collision scene, and remained there along with about a dozen other sport-type vehicles that stopped at the scene of the crash but fled immediately upon seeing police arrival," said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the OPP. "(The) family is devastated by this horrific incident. "We need answers, and we need the driver to come forward. If you're that driver, please call the police."

Leaving the Scene
Police say that there was no contact between the two vehicles involved in the incident and that the driver of the other vehicle simply lost control. Regardless, it's never a good idea to leave the scene of the crime, even if it means facing criminal charges in this particular case, as it's only going to add to the rap sheet's total.

Tracking Them Down
Sure enough, after a couple of weeks passed, police managed to track down the driver of the S2000. "Thanks to assistance from the public the driver of this Honda S2000 has been arrested," OPP posted via Twitter. "He is criminally charged with Dangerous driving - Causing Death and Failing to remain at the scene of a collision that resulted in death."

Important Lesson
While it's unfortunate that this S2000 owner has probably lost both his freedom and his car over a street race, sadly, it could have been much worse for him. And that's the important takeaway from this story - there's certainly nothing wrong with racing, but it's something that belongs on a closed track, not public roads.
