Hold the vision, trust the process

“Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.” – Jonathan Swift, Author (Gulliver’s Travels)

It’s not every day that we can look at something mundane and envision what it could possibly look like with a few tweaks here and several replacement parts there. In fact, not everyone can envision change, whether it be in a fixer-upper, a new career path, or even our own minds and bodies. But when it came to his S2000, Jacky could… and did. We are not suggesting that the S2000 he purchased was ever mundane because I think we can all agree that this Japanese roadster is far from pedestrian, but Jacky had a vision of his S2K’s best self and made it happen. Of course, the transformation was made much easier because Jacky is a mechanic with the wherewithal to do all the work himself.

Suspension of belief

Being a mechanic, Jacky definitely had the upper hand when it came to building his S2000 to the exact specifications that he wanted. Starting with the suspension, Jacky made all the right moves with Tein RS dual adjustable coilovers. To keep his S2000 planted to the ground, Jacky implemented a JIC “X-Brace” and Eibach front and rear sway bars. For even more grip, a set of 17×9.5 Volk TE37SL racing wheels wrapped in Advan AD08s were mounted.

Pride in performance

Next Jacky enhanced the performance of his S2000 by adding an HKS Supercharger under the hood. He installed a J’s Racing header, a T1R test pipe, and an Amuse R1 Titan single exhaust to further augment the engine’s breathability. With a lot more power pushing his S2K, Jacky needed to ensure that he’d be able to hit the brakes with confidence so he added Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, Spoon 4-Pot Monoblock brake calipers and Project Mu rotors and brake pads (B-Force for the street, and Club Racer for the track).

A track car inside and out

Jacky’s S2000 was built for the track and he didn’t alter course when it came to upgrading the exterior and interior of his roadster. He replaced some of the interior features with a Bride Vios III seat, a Mugen III steering wheel, ASM floor mats and Defi gauges. On the outside, Jacky looked to Voltex to make this S2000 look as good as it performs. Jacky’s S2000 is aesthetically furnished with a Voltex race version bumper with carbon canards, side skirts, rear diffuser, and a Voltex Type 2 1600mm wing with 275mm stands and a 30mm riser. To complement the Voltex aero pieces, Jacky completed the look with a Mugen FRP Hardtop and an ASM FRP Hood.

Where the focus goes, energy flows

“Vision without action is merely a dream.” – Joel A. Baker, Futurist, Author, Motivational Speaker

For Jacky, vision turned to action, and action produced a beautiful, powerful new S2000 worthy of some attention both on the track and off. The S2000 is one of the cars Jacky always dreamed of owning, but it isn’t the only one. He also has his heart set on an Acura NSX. When he gets his hands on one, we can only assume that he will hold the vision and trust the process, just as he’s done before.
