Mad Mashup

For a variety of reasons, the S2000 is a rather popular vehicle among not only those that like to drive but also those that like to create art. As a result, we've seen a large number of S2000 renderings over the years, some of them cool, some of them, well, not so much. There have also been more than a few S2000 renderings that attempt to combine the roadster's styling elements with those from other vehicles, and that list now includes this strange Mazda RX-7 mashup from Theottle.

Why Not?

For better or worse, today's software makes it pretty easy to create such Frankenstein-like vehicles, and that's precisely what has taken place here. Our resident artist got the idea to combine the pair of sports cars into one cohesive vehicle, and thought, why not? After all, doing this digitally is far easier than in real life.

Unholy Combination

Thus, he proceeds to simply chop the rear portions of both cars away, blending the RX-7's rear into the S2000 and then finishing it in the same color for a seamless look. The result is something that its creator calls the "RX2000," an unholy mashup between two iconic performance vehicles.

It...Works

Strangely, at least to us, this combination actually works. The RX-7's curvy rear blends quite nicely with the S2000's also-curvy lines, which is not what we would have expected. The change also effectively turns the Honda into a coupe, a look that many have tried to replicate over the years with removable hardtops.

Subjective Approach

Of course, styling is subjective, and there are plenty of people that hate this look, too. But it's an interesting idea, at least, and one that we'd rather see in digital form rather than via some garage hack job. No harm, no foul, as they say, and we can now move on and look forward to more mad creations from the minds of various internet-based artists.
