Back in Time

The builds section of the S2Ki Forums is a great place to scope out all sorts of cool, well, builds, but personally, we also enjoy the story behind the cars and their owners as well. That's especially true with this thread started by member s2k4life_az way back in 2014. It documents the time he owned a very nice S2000 Club Racer, and it's a great read for anyone who appreciates cars in general.

Catching the Bug

The story of this S2000 and its owner actually dates back to 2007, when he ordered it new and took delivery of the car. He didn't drive it much over the first three years of ownership thanks to a job that required him to travel a lot, but joining the Arizona S2Ki chapter changed that in a hurry. Meeting some fellow enthusiasts got him interested in group drives and track days, and like many of us, he caught the proverbial bug after just a few laps.

Helping Hands

At this point, the OP became interesting in modifying the car to make it faster at the track. A fellow CR owner and S2Ki member proved to be a critical source of information and even helped the OP install a new suspension on his ride, while a number of other members stepped in to help him choose the right parts and even help with the installation of various other components.

Making Memories

All this while, the OP planned on retaining the CR's original feel while simply improving its performance, handling, and braking. Along the way, the OP posted a ton of photos and information about his endeavors not only at the track but also participating in group drives around Arizona and surrounding areas, making the sort of memories that stick with you forever.

Endless Experimentation

With each track outing, the OP honed his skills and even managed to give the owners of some pretty expensive and exotic machines a run for their money. And he never stopped tinkering with the car, constantly changing parts and experimenting to figure out what worked or looked the best.

Parting Ways

Even when life got in the way, the OP eventually came back after a rough year and a half absence to continue working on his S2000. But years went by, and he purchased a GPW that sat alongside his beloved CR for some time. The CR was eventually returned to stock following a few years of sitting in the garage, and just last month, he made the difficult decision to part ways with the car.

Bittersweet End

It's a bittersweet end to this story, but obviously understandable, especially in light of the incredible prices, Club Racers are selling for these days. However, the OP will always have the memories of his 13 years of owning the car, and can always look back at this thread and remember the good times he had with it.
