Straight-Line Terror

The Honda S2000 wasn't designed to be a drag racer by any means, as the JDM drop-top is more of a backroads cruiser. Regardless, the S2000 can certainly be turned into a straight-line terror, as we've seen time and time again. That's true of the example in this video from Drag Racing and Car Stuff, but there's no F20C under the hood, but rather, an LS V8.

Double Blasphemy

The action went down at "Sick Week 2022," a gathering of 300+ cars at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida that participate in cruises and of course, drag racing. Here, we get to see an LS-swapped S2000 take on a Ford Fairmont wagon that is also packing a turbocharged version of GM's legendary powerplant in a case of double blasphemy.

But First

Prior to that particular showdown, the S2000 has a run against a Mitsubishi 3000GT that's also LS-powered, which is quite entertaining as the latter gets a jump on the former, only to get reeled in and lose with an 8.70-second pass versus the S2000's 8.49-second romp.

Sleeping Against a Sleeper

If that wasn't entertaining enough, now we see the S2000 line up against the Fairmont wagon, likely not falling for the old sleeper gimmick, since all of these cars are seriously quick. Once again, the Honda driver gets caught sleeping at the light for a split-second, but this time around, not by a huge amount.

Gaining Ground

The two cars pull even by mid-track, but by the time both reach the second half, the S2000 is beginning to pull away steadily. The two continue to the finish line as the vintage Ford falls further and further behind, leading to a pretty predictable result.

Easier Win

The S2000 winds up winning this race with ease, recording an 8.61-second pass at 162 miles-per-hour versus the Fairmont's 9.17-second pass at 148 mph. Clearly, the Honda is the faster car here, but the big old wagon is no slouch, either.
