Default Had a car accident.

I have had my car for almost 2 years. It was a 2005 Rio Yellow Pearl with 25k miles on it. People who have seen my car or know me, they know my car was PAMPERED. I had taken THE BEST care of my car possible but last week, God had something else in my fate.

Today, with a very heavy heart, i want to let you guys know that my car and i were in an accident on Wednesday.

I usually do not drive my car on rainy days but that day i had to go drop off my mother in laws van at her place as i used it to transport my Hardtop to the paint shop. After i dropped her car off, i picked up my car and went to my house, which is 2 miles away.

I was turning onto Broken Land Pkwy from Craddlerock way at 4:35pm on Wednesday evening. As many of you know, Brokenland is a three lane road and i was in the far left lane, after the turn i may have gone 100-200 yards on a straight road and out of no where my car spun from the back (clockwise) and hit the median on the right side, crossing all three lanes, breaking the rear axle and damaging the left wheels and tires. After that hit, my car stayed in momentum and skid all the way to the other median (left), jumping on the median and hit the street post before it came to a stop, half on the road, half on the median.

Luckily, there was no one on the road and no other vehicle was involved. I stayed in the car to gathering myself a bit and to make sure I wasn't hur, ignoring all the traffic and just thinking what may have caused the skid as i was going on a straight road not more than 35-40mph.

My friend who was my passenger, asked me about something but i was just in shock that i did not even reply to him. He called the 911 and while he was on the phone, i stepped out and was heartbroken to see the left side of my car. Looking at the rear wheel, i could say that the axle was broken. The wheels, that i just put on my car 2 weeks ago were all broken and tires were slashed as well. The lining under the fenders was all coming out.

I could not see the condition of my exhaust and under the car as my car was half on the median and half on the road. I'm sure there is a damage under my car as well as i was pretty low on my coilovers.

The front bumper was off the car and the lip was in the middle of the road (where my car hit the median the first). I walked to the back of the car and and realized that the back bumper was fully damaged after hitting the light pole, damaging the body frame as well. The sides had minor damage.

Fire truck and ambulances were sent back as there were no injuries. Cops came and wrote the report and called a tow truck. They towed the car to an impound. I called my insurance who asked me to take off everything off the car before my insurance takes possession of the car.

The next day, I went there and tried to take stuff off my car with a help of my brother but were only able to take the intake and Hood dampers out as the car was on a muddy ground and no jack could have lifted her to take the coilovers and exhaust off.

Now the battle begins with the insurance, who will be letting me know the fate of my car on Wednesday.

i am not sure if its a total loss or they are going to fix it. Let me know what do you guys think ?

If they fix it, where should i take the car to get it fixed, i want something local so i can be there everyday to see the progress on my car and see if they are using OEM parts

Ouch,so sorry to hear what happened. I did quite literally the exact same thing a little over a month ago, but mine was caused by me accelerating way too quickly on the wet roads and I ended up in a ditch and hit a tree on the other side of the road from where I started. It's incredible how far you slide for after losing traction isn't it?

How many miles are on your car and what year?

My guess is that it's most likely totaled. Ins totaled mine, it had 97k, but I only damaged the front bumper and fender and front right suspension.

Something I found out after I had already settled is that insurance will give you ACV and it's usually a good bit lower than any book value and what I later found out is that on the insurance auction site it lists the ACV for the wrecked vehicle. If they total it and they aren't giving you enough pull up some of these and find a similar car and show them what other insurance companies are paying for a similar car. For example this 2004 with 22k on it, ACV is $18k.

Also you really should try and get the coilovers off, insurance might give you $100 for them if you're lucky.

Sorry to hear, It's a big hassle to deal with, but be thankful on-one was hurt. Many variables involved, but frame damage usually totals a car.

if you have the time and mechanical ability buy it back from the Ins co and part it out.

Thank you for letting me know. I have read that the insurance will low ball on the first offer but if you fight and provide them with legit documentation regarding sales of similar cars around you, they do give you a good price.

I have printed out few cars from cars.com and autotrader.com, which are similar to mine but they are in another states as i do not have any s2000 for sale here in MD which is close to my car's condition. Im going to take those print outs and see what they say.

I did try to lift the car to take the exhaust and coilovers off, but as it was muddy ground and the jack was unable to lift the car and was actually bending the frame when i tried to lift the car from rear.

Sorry to hear about the accident but I'm about 95% sure your car will be totaled by the insurance company.
