Hey man sorry to hear about the accident, I'm sorry to say that they will most likely total it. About 3 months ago I had a 2000 with 44k miles on it and it was raining and I was going northbound on 95 when a truck ran me off the road, I swerved so he didn't hit me and I lost control of the rear end, went across all 3 lanes and smoked the 6 foot cement divider. I had coils, ap2v1 rims, and a injen cold air intake, and the whole car was mint. But my insurance company wouldn't let me take anything off my car, I went to the impound lot where it got towed and I managed to get my shift knob but that was it ( and my belongings) but they appraised my car at 15000. So I was happy with the appraisal. Keep us posted man. And good luck.
you got a real good price, i hope im that lucky as well. Which ins company you had ?

did you buy another s2000 ?
I have usaa, but I'm a marine so I think they are only dod affiliated, and yes I just bought a black 03, are you going to buy another S? I couldn't be without one. I love the s2000s

Another lost S... Sorry to hear! That damage would lead me to believe its totalled...

Do you know if there was some sort of mechanical failure prior to the spin? Usually going straight doesn't cause a spin, unless you gunned it?

Just another reminder to everyone that you need to be extra careful with this car in adverse weather. Have the right tires for the conditions, and then always always drive accordingly.

Be safe out there everyone!

Holy crap Mo. Cars can be replaced. Glad you walked away from it. Hope you get another one soon.

USAA is extremely fair, our au pair totalled our 4runner and the ins payout was about retail.

Mo, I'm sorry to see this, beautiful car and I know it can hurt. I'm with aeonracer, I think there was a mechanical failure. My guess is suspension (newly installed right?) or drive axle. While the S can be tail happy (ap2s to a lesser degree) its nearly impossible to break the rear end loose like that in a straighline, even in damp conditions. Unless standing water is a factor.

Again, sorry it happened and I hope everything works out in the end.

Oh no Mo... So sorry to hear this man. Hope to see you back on the road for spring meets.

I've almost lost my tail end going in a straight line on wet roads a couple of times. Glad to hear no one was hurt.
