Default Wasp Composite race splitter review!

ive been talking to brian from wasp composites for a while now about a race splitter for the rockstar garage race car.

this last weekend was our second event on his splittler.. we did an event mid last year at autoclub but had some wiring issues, causing us to not finish and get towed in.

we were able to make it to buttonwillow for the 1st s2k challenge of 2013. it was rainy, we were slow.. but was still able to get to feel the difference the splitter made

this thing, even at low speeds, sucks the front end to the ground. its soo much stiffer and lighter than the apr cf splitter i was running before..i wouldnt dare do what i did here on that thing.. just an fyi... im about 200 lbs with clothes on.

pictured is the new wasp race splitter.. will post more pics soon with the bumper mounted with the spats and sides.

find more info about them here

That looks really well made. How is it attached? Any closeup pics?

It has 3 bolts in the rear radiator frame, 3 per side in the under tray replacement brackets and 4 turnbuckle support arms.

It is very well made. Super strong for being as light as it is.

Areo is all about balance. I have seen plenty of figures on how much downforce is created by a wing but I have not seen anything on how much downforce a splitter makes. You say it really "sucks", your words not mine, I am afraid without a wing I will be removing traction from the rear wheels. How do you balance a splitter with a wing? I am assuming you have a wing. Did you have to adjust it differently when you added the splitter? Would you run a splitter with a wing?

^^^^I can't say I've seen anyone run a splitter without a wing. Here is SoCal it seems the larger wings (J's, Voltex, Type 2 & 7, APR GTC300) usually balance the aero with a 3" splitter. I have also seen some smaller wings APRGTC200 with a 2" splitter.

From talking to Bryan at Wasp he can make the splitter to suit your wants or needs. After seeing this at BW last weekend the way it mounts completely removes any flexing. Very solid and strong.

Bryan' stuff is legit!!
I use his brackets and rods on my honeycomb splitter

I have to say his stuff is by far the most delicate piece.. weight, strength, mounting accessories... etc all very well balanced and carefully designed
