Default CALLING ALL AIR FILTER GURUS! Will this filter fit my intake?

So I ran into an issue with my comptech icebox intake for my 02 AP1. I needed to replace the air filter and ordered an AFE 24-55505. It didn't fit because I found out the previous owner cut the velocity stack off the end of my intake, so the filter was much too large. Now I'm thinking I'll just return the AFE 24-55505 and buy another filter that will fit the cut intake pipe. I measured the diameter of the cut intake pipe and have posted pictures below. Please help me find a replacement air filter that will fit my intake.

I've done some research and I think this may fit, but I'm not entirely sure, aFe 24-40505: http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...rtno=24-40505&
or maybe this? aFe 24-38505: http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...artno=24-38505

Here is a link to my previous thread on this issue: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/103...-not-fit-help/

Looking at the measurement of the pipe, it seems to be between 3.75 and 4 inches in diameter. The 4-inch flange of the 24-40505 is too big, and finding a safe and secure way to fill the gap between the pipe and the flange of the filter would be difficult. I'd go with 24-38505 (3.75-inch flange). If you have difficulty fitting that over the pipe (which you may since the pipe is slightly bigger), use a heat gun to soften up the flange of the filter first.
I speak from my personal experience as I had a similar problem with my Civic Si a few years ago and I went with the smaller size filter and heat gun method.

Couldn't I just tighten the metal ring that goes around the air filter to make a tight seal?

not if its that much smaller. what you can do is just buy a filter that will fit the pipe and come up with a way to secure it in the box.

The measurement of the intake pipe is roughly 3.8125 inches (3 13/16 inches).
I tightened up the metal ring around the aFe 24-55505 and it made the diameter significantly smaller, the original diameter is 5 1/2 inches:

I'd get a filter with a 4" inlet diameter and just tighten it. If you'd like to run a large filter you could buy a velocity stack and a filter that fits over the velocity stack.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I was thinking about doing just that; buying an aFe 24-40505 since it has a 4" flange. My main concern is if it will seal up around my intake pipe properly since it is slightly larger than the diameter of my intake pipe. I would prefer to get a velocity stack and a coupler, but I cant seem to find a 5 1/2 inch velocity stack to fit the aFe 24-55505 that I already bought. I'll more than likely end up sending it back and just getting the aFe 24-40505. Seems like that might be the cheapest solution too.

Has anyone else used an air filter with a slightly larger flange than the inlet pipe?
