Default So Dean - how are you doing today?

I thought we might want a dedicated thread to track the old fart's recovery rather than mucking up the "Weekend" thread.

Let me start by stating that over the years many people have gone to great lengths to screw up my vacation plans but this episode makes them all pale in comparison.

Dean, get well soon. Be nice to the nurses, especially the ones poking you and messing with the tubes in your body.

I'm not on vacation so you haven't screwed anything up for me. Let me know if you need another pint of blood. Rick and I will take a trip to FL (at your expense) and he'll hook you up.

I'm always very nice to the nurses and they spoil me in return. I haven't been able to handle solid food very well, so the nurses let Rori "smuggle" in milkshakes and protein drinks.

Thanks for the very generous offer, but I'm hoping not to develop any more unexpected and prolonged leaks. I have two tubes in my chest for drainage, which should be removed in another day or two. Fingers crossed those come out smoothly.

Here's a strange coincidence - my oldest granddaughter's other grandfather dropped dead of a heart attack in his driveway, while I was here having my surgery. He was only 56.

Gee, Dean. Time for that black cloud over your head to move out to sea.

Jeez. Well, I think you should avoid any driveways then. Clearly they cause heart attacks.

Wishing a smooth and speedy recovery. No "going down the tubes" even if you have a couple of 'em stuck in ya right now.

How about treadmills? A friend who was a retired USAF Lt Col and a fellow Habitat board member dropped dead at age 84 while working out on a treadmill at the local Y about 2 weeks ago. I went to the funeral service in a black baptist church in Philly and heard the minister end the service with a rousing eulogy about the treadmill. "Bob was walkin, on this earth...and a minute later he was walkin' with the lord on the way to heaven...yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah" As one would expect, the congregation was full of "amen brother" replies.

End of black humor [NPI} and back to our regular "You Go Dean" thread Best wishes for a short stay and early release based on "good behavior"

Thanks. They pulled out the chest tubes this morning. That was fun, like being started up like a lawn mower.
The doctor says I may get to go home this weekend. I think they're going to try to get me up and walking a little today. Hopefully it goes well.
