MOT Fail on headlight leveller
Hi there, well unfortunately my S failed the MOT today. This was due to 'nearside rear headlamp levelling device obviously defective'. Looking at the part it looks as though the linkage has just snapped off. I've been into my local honda dealer but they haven't been able to find the part on the system so until they get back to me is there any thing I could do to fix it myself? Cheers Tom

I had the same thing a while back. Honda can only source the part if part of the whole assembly at £300ish. I made a replacement up from some ebay ball joints (1LH,1RH) and some bar with opposite threads (which was the hardest bit to find).

Ahh had a feeling honda wlll only sell the whole unit, in that case will look into looking my own linkage. I've managed to find the ball joints on ebay, just need to find the bar with opposite threads and in the right size. Thanks for the help.

I've gone for:
M6 Ball Joints * 2 (One LH Thread, One RH Thread)
M6 Linkage Rod * 1
M6 Nuts * 2
The old rod (with the nut in the middle) has opposite threads at each ends, which makes sense otherwise turning a normal threaded rod would just loosen one end whilst tightening the other, and make no difference to the distance between them.
I measured 35mm of rod (including the nuts at each end) between the old 2 ball joints, so was planning on setting the new one the same but will have to check when I do that job.
Will let you know how the DIY goes once it all arrives, got some football to watch now

The oldest cars are almost at classic status age now and are coming out of the dustbin.
