Visual differences?
Hi all - question for the experts.
I was having a flywheel chat with a friend mine that also runs an s2k. What are the visual differences between the stock AP1 flywheel and the stock AP2 flywheel?
Is this an ap1 or ap2 flywheel? I believe that it is a stock ap1 flywheel. Please see posted pic.

Ap2 flywheel guaranteed, because the inner casting is the same thickness as the pilot bearing (the part with the red lines in all clock positions). The outer casting is also up against the teeth edge.
You can also tell by looking at the flywheel through the bottom of the bell housing.
The casting will come right to the edge of the low tooth of the ring gear on the ap2 flywheel.

The two flywheels on the right are ap1. The one on the left is ap2.
Note on the ap2, how thick the middle is. Most obvious is how much the ring gear is showing on the ap1.
You definitely have an ap2 flywheel. Look how your casting comes to the edge of the teeth.

Are you sure? That's not great news. I had my car in the shop to have my clutch and flywheel replaced - instead of using my original flywheel they had the exact same replacement flywheel in stock already machined, and installed it.
Are you 100% sure that the one in the original pic is the heavier ap2 flywheel?
Is there any definitive way that I would be able to tell by driving the car?

Yes I am sure. I can tell the difference from 50 feet away.
Can you see what I'm talking about with the casting coming right up to the edge of the teeth on the ap2?
Now look at the ring gear on this ap1 flywheel. Concentrate on the right side of the flywheel where there is no shadow. The difference is very obvious. The ring gear is much wider (less cast iron covering it)

I THINK you can look through the tiny rectangular window at the bottom of the bell housing and see the teeth and type of flywheel.
