Hard to believe this was nearly 5 years ago, where it all started. (Don't worry it comes a long way) This is how I bought the car:

The first summer, I just enjoyed the car and got used to it. I didn't change a thing besides fluids.

Next year was pretty modest, as I was finishing my last year of schooling up to get my ticket. Mods were basically an exhaust and stereo.

Old wheels (18x7.5 +45 with 225's) vs new meat (17x9 +45 with 255's):

Got the wheels custom painted the same color as the car at wheel works. Not overly thrilled with the work they did on the barrels but the faces turned out okay.

Wheels finally on. (terrible pic)

Then I got to making some custom center caps for the wheels out of Honda Odyssey OEM center caps. (fit rpf1 perfect) And painted the calipers while I had the wheels off.

Shortly after the car got a stereo and full dynomat on the interior. Didn't go too crazy or anything just a nice pioneer deck, with a 4 channel amp that pumps 190w to both of the Hertz components. It's loud but I probably rip this out and put it in my fxt in the coming years.
Cut the tweeters into the A-pillars.... just fit up there! (mines a 00 so it didnt come stock with tweeters)

Just looking at this pic makes me cringe.... hated that weekend of doing this.

Make shift amp rack... til I could make an amp rack to bolt in where the spare tire once was.

Target location

Completed unit, then the spare tires cover goes over it and its all hidden

Next winter I got back down to doing some serious thinking of what I wanted to do next.
SOS clutch, SS braided clutch line, new oem throw bearing and a CC 8.5lbs flywheel came in to hold the power of a few other things.

SOS stage 2 Supercharger kit with all the bells and whistles and hondata EMS to do the tuning.

Paxton Novi 1200 blower running a 9 psi pulley (good for stock internals)

mid install..

SOS 70mm throttle body compared to OEM, doesn't look like much of a difference and who knows if it did make a difference... but its in there to stay.

After install was complete... man that engine bays busy!

Made 293.5 rwhp on a dynomotive dyno... tuned by toma. Was hoping for a little higher but I think my engine was on its way out at this point.

A dyno pull.

Although I put the charger in and had a lot of fun, we had a lot of bad times in 2011. I took the car to a paintball event in calgary, car got fairly dusty so I hit up a quick touchless car wash at a esso. (I was in a rush) The garage door upon exiting the car wash ended up coming down on the spoiler. After fighting with insurance and esso for nearly a month. I brought the car back to calgary to visit a friend for the weekend. On his first ride in the car we were just headed to subway, sitting at a red light on edmonton trail and 16ave. I was rear ended by a jeep rubicon doing a good 40k (on his phone). Needless to say there was barely any damage to his jeep but his bumper pretty much lined up with my tail lights. I don't have a picture of it in my files anywhere. Basically I got my new spoiler from the never ending fight with esso covered this way (at least there was one positive). In total there we ended up replace the bumper, tail lights, trunk lid, spoiler, fixing the rear fenders, and shaving the trunk and the antenna while we were at it. Note to any of you that happen to get in an accident, pay close attention that insurance replaces parts with what was there. They tried to give me oem replica stuff but after much bitching and complaining they finally gave in and replaced it with what was there in the first place. To top it off, on my way home from Calgary the charger pulley bolt backed out, about a block from my house. This destroyed the pulley (which has made a great ashtray in my garage btw) and blew an intake valve at the same time. So we towed her back to the garage and she sat for a month before the body shop had room for her, and another month to get her back. Which brought me to september where I limped the car home with a stuck intake valve and pondered what to do next over the winter. Talk about a shitty summer!

Knowing I had to do something with the valve train I decided to just do the entire engine. So at 178k we started fresh, and I began a tuck and shave while I waited on machine work to be done.
Let the tear down begin

Engine out, and a mess of wire to hide.

Block stripped down and almost ready to ship off to Laskey Racing (more about this later)

Bunch of new parts for the build. ARP studs, full supertech valvetrain, ID1000's and a 16 psi pulley for the charger.

Rerouting the passenger side wire harness. (lights, radiator, horn, a/c, eps, main fuse box) Never did get any finalized pictures of this but I'll take some more pics when I get back home.

Rerouted the harness from inside the cab to inner fender... instead of into the engine bay. Fuse box, EPS module and power distribution will be out in this fender.

Bottom End packed up and ready to ship to Laskey Racing in Anaheim. Block will be fully "Benson'd" upon return.

Luckily enough for me, my neighbor was the engine builder at prostock. (Troy) And was able to help me do the majority of the work myself on my car. I did however leave the machine work and assembly on the head up to the guys at prostock. Fresh out of the hot tank, resurfaced and assembled with all the supertech goodies. 3 way port and polish, st titanium retainers, st bronze valve guides, st intake and exhaust valves (oem sizes), st dual springs. I stuck with OEM cams for now. None the less I cannot thank Troy enough for the help and advice he gave me throughout the process during engine assembly... and well to be honest any question I've asked over time. Truly blessed to of had him as a neighbor and now good friend. So onto the head porn.

The bottom end was quite the process. Shipped it, it got rejected at the bored, held for a bit, then sent back to me. Shipped it with a different company and phew no problems but it set me back by a few weeks. For those of you unfamiliar with Benson and Laskey Racing.... basically Benson is a world renowned honda machinist. Specially designed his own specs for sleeves, which are made by darton and only available to him. Pressed into the block and pretty much guaranteed to never move. So after I got in line for that machine shop, and waited and waited. Mike Laskey finally got the black back and began assembly. CP pistons (10:1) and carrillo rods were mated to a benson micro polished crank rolling on ACL bearings with new seals throughout. Shipped back up to me and this is what I received:

BENSON's block.

Everything laid out and ready to be assembled.
