Default Engine start button and roof switch swap?

Okay this might be a bit odd to ask but has anyone ever swapped the engine start button to where the roof switch is and the roof switch over to where the start button is? I was looking at pictures of a CR and noticed the roof switch missing and thought...the engine start button there would be cool. Kind of like the GTR.

How difficult would it be to swap the two? I would imagine the hardest part would be extending the wiring.

The start button module is pretty long, maybe 4 inches ?, I don't know if it would fit in the space under the console ?. Extending the wiring would be easy, and I like the idea of moving the start button

It's been done I'll see if I can find it. And there is PLENTY of room beneath the center console so there Is no issue. The only thing you would have to do is extend the harness. I would personally just make an "extension" harness so I wouldn't have to splice the original harness. Buy some wire and matching female and male plug connectors and now you can an extension harness with no splice.

Interesting idea.....me like.

Agree on the depth question. Just finished pulling my dash last weekend am amazed how deep that button+connector is. Definitely run your own wires!

Ive been redoing my interior for the past week so its all taken apart, I figured I might as well do it since I've been wanting to for the longest. I ended up just splicing and adding wire to extend the existing harness, and there is enough depth to accommodate for the button but it's a tight fit, it BARELY sits flush with the wires of the clip bent to the side. The toughest part would be deciding wether or not you want this mod bad enough because you have to hack at your center console. The hole for the roof button is too thin so you have to cut the "trim" around it so the button can go in but the chrome trim around the start button is the same size as the black trim you cut out so it works. I used a soldering pen to melt the trim around, it'd probably be easier with a small rotary tool but I don't have one. I think it looks much better in the center console.

Awesome! Did you take any in progress pictures? I'd love to see a DIY guide.

I didn't get any pictures during the process but I'll go back and take pictures for you guys when I get a chance. I haven't drove the car yet since the mod but I got to thinking about it and now I'm concerned about it. Since the botton barely sits flush with the center console with the wires of the harness bent to the side I'm concerned with them Melting since they're in contact with the top of the trams tunnel and it get pretty hot down there, I'm just not sure if it gets hot too there or only hot around the shifter and were the actual trans is.

Good point about the heat from the transmission tunnel. That's something to think about.
