Since the botton barely sits flush with the center console with the wires of the harness bent to the side I'm concerned with them Melting since they're in contact with the top of the trams tunnel and it get pretty hot down there, I'm just not sure if it gets hot too there or only hot around the shifter and were the actual trans is.
Are you referring to the original harness wires or the ones you added? Depending on the type of wire, it should be fine - There's harnesses all under the hood that probably see higher temps than what the area in question might see, but don't quote me on that.

Im referring to the original harness wire, those are the one touching the actual tans tunnel. And I get what your getting at with the wires in the engine bay but this is different because the wires of the harness are actually in direct contact with the heat source (that being the metal of thae trams tunnel). The start button is so long that in order to sit flush, the wires of the harness have to be bent to the side of the clip connector and squashed between the top I the trams tunel and the bottom of the start button. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it right I might be confusing you. Either way I've been driving the car this whole week to work and so far so good.

I get what you're saying - the tranny (direct heat source) is separated by air between the trans tunnel as well, so it should still be fine. Good to know its working well so far - I considering doing this mod in the future.

The toughest part would be deciding wether or not you want this mod bad enough because you have to hack at your center console. The hole for the roof button is too thin so you have to cut the "trim" around it so the button can go in but the chrome trim around the start button is the same size as the black trim you cut out so it works. I used a soldering pen to melt the trim around, it'd probably be easier with a small rotary tool but I don't have one. I think it looks much better in the center console.

Any problems with hitting the push to start on accident?
I'm worried it might be a problem for if I do this mod

I have been wanting to do this, I just don't know if I like it being that close to where my hand is constantly. I'd hate to accidentally hit it while I'm driving as our cars, unlike most push button starts, will engage the starter with the engine running.

Youd have to accidentally hit it while the clutch is pushed in.

Are you 100% if you have the clutch down and hit the starter while running it will engage?

Only reason I ask is you can just loop the clutch switch so it's not needed to start.

My brother sat in the drivers seat pushing the start button to try and get the car to shutdown.

Finally found out what would happen!
