July 7 & 8 - S2000s at Watkins Glen International with SCDA - DEADLINE EXTENDED

Great event but ride home was HELL....over an hour with wipers on high doing 40 mph....then pulled over by cops when lights went out on trailer...
I have never seen it rain so damn hard in my life. As I watched the news they report at least two tornado's that touched down less than 5 miles from the Thruway around exit 33 (Turningstone Casino). The wind was blowing the trailer so hard that for 20 miles or so I had to straddle the center line of the two lanes on the Thruway, moving over to let cars pass (not many did).
Hope everyone made it home safely.

Great time seeing old friends and meeting some new guys! Track was a little iffy on Monday but all dry on Tuesday.
More casualties than I have ever seen at that event...new Porsche flipped, Miata had a wheel shear off, BRZ into the tire wall
and a couple of other smaller incidents.
6 1/2 hour drive for me including 1 stop, not bad considering, as Aashish said, we drove through a monsoon for a good 70 to 80 miles.
Is it me or is that concrete on 88 like a skating rink when it's wet? Felt like I was doing winter driving.
Looking forward to seeing everyone's gopro videos and pictures! Should we start a separate thread for those?

Freaking Aashish tried to kill me!
Civil Service alarms on the radio saying a possible tornado about to hit Vestal at any minute. I don't know where we are, but the sign says "Vestal, Next Exit". Big black storm cloud right behind us! I'm on the constant look-out for a culvert to hide in!
All the way up, according to the radio, we are one step ahead of the big storm. It hits big time just north of Binghamton. Water or hail is bouncing 2 feet - but Aashish keeps on at a good speed. Eventually, there is a huge lightning flash, so I turn on the Go Pro. Not sure it was filming, but we'll see what we can see.
Arrived home around midnight.

I just wanted to go on record as saying that ALL of you have made tremendeous progress since last year. I got to ride with most of you and I was very impressed on your smooth consistent laps. It does take a lot of dedication to progress in this sport and I was pleased to see how well you have all done improving your driving.

In the office sleep deprived and nursing a headache. Smiling though as I think back to yesterday and Monday.
I'll post up pics from the phone this PM and will have a more detailed post.

Took a quick look at the videos. I have sound, but also an annoying G-Force indicator that passes across the screen. The sound cord. I realized on the last run that I needed to put the wire behind the camera. Also camera not very stable mounted to the windshield.

I got home around 6:30 or so. I ran into insane rain as well. Did you guys manage to avoid the rain on the last session of the day? I was going to edit out some of the lackluster laps and maybe edit in some engine noises () and throw up a video. Really glad I was come out and meet everyone. Really really enjoyed the event and looking forward to meeting everyone again! I'm sure everyone will agree, but damn we have a solid group of people!
Also wanted to thank everyone again for helping me out with my brakes on Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Really appreciate Mark and Jeff driving me around town to look for pads and everyone lending me tools/hands to help me get back on track asap. And also a second thanks to Aashish for organizing this awesome event and helping me get on track with the backup car! I owe you big time brotha!
