Default Oil filters?

I know when I had my AP1 a few years ago the general census was that the OEM oil filter was the best bet since it was designed for these high revving motors.

Is this still the case? I recently took ownership of a 2005 Ap2 and I'm about to do a general sweep of the fluids.

Think what ever filter fitted,it needs to be re torqued 3-4 times after fitting,
ie every week until it stops doing up more

+1

also - torque it down with a torque wrench, NOT by hand

Yeah, you should never have to re-torque after you install it. unless you want it over tightened and nearly impossible to remove

Use OEM. They are good filters. Plus, you do torque these filters tighter than on most cars (you wont get it tight enough by hand short of being the hulk). The OEM filter has markings so you can tq it correctly without a tq wrench and adapter.

OEM filter is good. But if there is a combo deal, oil+filter, then that might save you some money. I doubt a non-oem oil filter will cause engine damage lol. Also the last time I purchased an OEM filter I think the dealership ripped me off. I got charged 16 bucks for one, that's expensive!

Right now I'm using a mobile 1 oil filter. Purchased it with some oil for 25 bucks (or less) I think.
