Newbie: Just bought my 02' s2k BUT...
This is the first car I have ever bought! I got to drive it around for a bit before winter hit. Had an ECM replaced & alignment by the Honda dealership tech. But now it's time to get my hands dirty and fix this up before summer comes back. Still in the process of buying tools since I have none. Here are some current pics (adding more later) and things I plan to do.
1) Drivers side rear sway bar connector is bent/damaged and needs replaced.
---Found the "link"i need but not for the correct side. Help please? ( part # 8 link arm )
· ordered sway bar connector + 10mm locking nuts hardware √
2) Some exposed wires need a little extra electric tape (possible signs of corrosion).
3) Replace the front bumper with new AP2 style. Paint is scratched badly (any seller recommendations?)
4) Figure out how to clip the panels to the frame due to previous owner destroying the mounting brackets.
5) Locate and repair an oil leak. Seems to be coming from the oil filter "in" line. May wait until oil change is needed since the leak is very slow.
6) Install larger (black) intercooler. (suggestions?)
Forum member posted this and it caught my eye: http://jacksonracing.com/jackson-racing-honda-s2000-dual-radiatoroil-cooler/
7) Install new windshield sprayer hoses and nozzle (d/s inop). Maybe one of these parts: Part # unknown
8) Maybe upgrade the exhaust & upgrade to a high flow catalytic converter(suggestions?) 2NDW1FE provided link: GREDDY S200
9) The hood is a little scratched but I might cut some custom ventilation slots in there. Found a nice DIY by GEARHEAD (Custom cut vented hood)
10) There is a misfire in cylinder 3 even after the ECU was replaced. So I'm going to try my hand at adjusting the valves and replacing the (coil packs??? EDIT: valve retainer & retainer keeper) Valve retainer replacement *this looks complicated*. Maybe I'll try adding some injector cleaner and letting the VTEC kick in before I dig into the engine.
11)buy/install missing trim behind D/S & P/S seats. (possibly called the side garnish?) Part #'s 10 & 12 $50.31 x 2 = $100.62
12) general winterize needs done, still figuring that out. But I figured out how to get it up on jack stands! Woot!
· need to fill fuel tank& add fuel stabilizer (general consensus is you dont need fuel stabilizer as long as the tank is full) Gas tank is now full √
· buy a can of rubber care spray for seals and suspension boots √
·purchase a battery maintainer √
13) buy/install D/S door trim Part # 6 $59.09
14) Want to upgrade my oil pan (with the flapper gates) to prevent oil starvation around hard turns.
15) replace the VTEC gasket. Watched this guy's video
and I'm thinking this could be the cause of the oily residue I've seen build up in that area.
16) trying to identify a whistling noise while deceleration exactly the same as this guy's description: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/885...-whinewhistle/
17)Inspect suspension and replace needed Ball joints and Bushings to upper and lower arms.
-Front lower ball joint assy (part #4): Honda Automotive Parts

*depends on cost/speed of shipping*
18) also trying to figure out a rear suspension *pop* found a video that gave me some ideas:
With all of the information available on this forum I'm sure I'll be able to stumble through it and gain some automotive mechanical knowledge. Any feedback is appreciated!

Yes I think I meant to say radiator. I am using black because it actually has been proven to dissipate heat and run cooler than a shiny chrome one. Plus I plan to install a supercharger someday and the s2000 already runs hot. Don't need all that excess heat damaging the engine.
EDIT: I did in fact mean to say intercooler. Also a black 1 having better cooling principles is just a myth My link: Engineering Explained
