Default Insurance Comparison Thread 2016 - Compare Quotes

My renewal is due.

So i figured i would give my low down of this Years renewal prices as a bit of a heads up from every company I have tried, just so you can all see who is and who isn't S2000 friendly when you’re as young as I am... Being 22 is shit...

Okay So I'm 22 and work for the NHS.

WN7 Postcode

I Have no accidents or convictions

Held my license for 5 years and have 4 years no claims

No Claims is protected

Compare the Market (Go Skippy): - £1236
Admiral: - £1600 (£1050 Last Year)
RAC: - Wont Insure Me
Direct Line: - Wont Insure Me
Swiftcover: - Wont Insure Me
Google Compare (Bell): - £3120
Morethan: - Wont Insure Me
Go Compare (elephant): - £2550
LV: - Wont Insure Me
Sky: - Wont Insure Me
Adrian Flux: - £2687
Confused.com: - £2275
Tesco: - Wont Insure Me
Co-op: - Wont Insure Me
Diamond: - £1891
Aviva: - £1013

Now Aviva have really come out on top and I am quite happy with their quote. But Last year a lot of other companies were far more competitive. So i'm shocked to find that being a year older I am being put down as uninsurable with a lot of companies that gave me reasonable quotes last year.
If you think I should try anyone else let me know

(This is now the 2016 Insurance Thread so If your going to comment with prices of your own renewal, can we please make sure that we say which company it is with?

Cheers Guys)

I am 21 and just renewed my insurance with Adrian Flux. Paid a tad over £900 with only 1 NCD on the S (3 years on another car) and all of my mods declared..

I believe WN7 is a fairly high risk postcode is it not?

Have you tried dropping the NCD protection from your quote?

Yeah i dont think WN7 is a great postcode but it hasnt got any worse in recent years. Although saying that, every focus RS within 10 miles of my home has been stolen recently...

I have thought about it and it does knock £100 off with Aviva. But if i were to loose my no claims in a bump then i truly would be stuffed because without it I cant insure an s2k for less than £3500 :S. so I reckon its worth paying an extra £100-£200 for the premium just for peace of mind.

Try the specialists such as Greenlight, Sky Insurance, Brentacre etc.

33 and £370 with Greenlight.

52 with 3 points costs me £224 fully comp, but I would rather pay £1k and be 22 again!

Hell's bells - I thought cars were as good as un-nickable these days? Or are they plucked by a Hiab or similar? I was thinking of moving back to Manchester too, it was the crime that prompted me to leave in the first place!

Back on topic. Implausible as may sound, declaring my S's uprated brakes (amongst other modifications, so not sure about their impact) did result in a small reduction, as in 2%. I know you're trying to save money, but the principle of weighting the insurers apply to modifications is interesting.

I have just tried Greenlight and they wont insure me either lol. I have been with brentacre in the past but then were really funny when i switched to the s2000 and wouldnt insure me. But they then decided the didnt want to give me a refund for the remainder of my policy. i also lost out on a years no claims because of them.

No I know people who have had 2009 Focus RS's and they have all been stolen in the past Year or so. They use some sort of OBD box thing and literally unlock it remotely get in it and start the car with a computer... Takes a whole 15 seconds apparently. The cars have never been seen since...

Makes me glad the s2000 has such a complicated H&P alarm haha.
