Default Front license plate mounting in grill

Has anyone mounted their front plate in their grill? I've noticed that the front plate fits almost perfectly in the grill of the S2k so I want to put it there. I just am not quite sure how to mount it.

Have any of you tried this yet? If so, how did you do it and how did it turn out?

just buy the ricks front licence plate holder.
IMO mounting it in the grill would take some work and decrease air flow.

is it legal to use a smaller license plate like a motorcycle plate but for ur car and place that in the front somewhere where it flows?
or is that illegal?

s2m222,

I'm not sure how laws work in Washington, but I do know that would be illegal in California. Over here we have minimum license plate dimensions that we have to adhere to.

As for air flow, I'm not too worried. I figured that I'd take out the plastic things on the sides next to the grill and maybe put something there that will direct the air toward the center.

I've been running with the plate in the grille for over 3 years Reflexx. No problems so far.

Using the threaded hole that is normally used as a 3rd support for the bumper-mounted license bracket, I used a 10mm bolt to attach a small universal aluminum license bracket that I picked up at AutoZone. The plate fits there perfectly and there is NO difference in airflow to the radiator that I have noticed.

Do a search. There are many threads about this, going back to four years ago. In general, there are two opposing opinions on this: One camp said it restricts air flow and the engine temperature goes up; the other camp said no problems with air flow. So I guess you try it with your own car and draw your own conclusions. Good luck.

If you are worried about airflow just drill some holes into the license plate. That's how I did it and have not been hassled by the cops yet.
