Fixing a bumper with broken side tabs..
Hey guys,
A handful of you guys noticed that my rear bumper was 'flaring' out from the sides. It was due to the side mounting slits or tabs being broken. They typically break when you make contact with something on the rear bumper and the tabs just snap like twigs. Well since Greg's didn't fix it, I decided to fix it on my own... I wish I took before pictures but hopefully David can take a pic of his bumper since I know he had the same problem as I did before I fixed.
First I took off the rear bumper... it's simple, 1 screw on each side by the wheel well (or 8mm socket), 1 plastic push pin on each side, 3 large push pins on the top of the bumper, 2 plastic screw push pins on the bottom and to make things easier, remove the tail lights (5 x 8mm bolts, 4 plugs and 2 plastic push pins per side).
Here are the broken tabs...

Next, I created a template of the new mounts I need to make...

Then I drew them out on a 'sheet' of plastic (which is the lid of my cat's Fresh Step kitty litter container
)...

I clean the mounting surface on the bumper and plastic mounts with alcohol then then use some Super Gel Glue.

I let it sit over night and it's done...

Then I mounted the rear bumper... (flush!) Note: the rear end edge doesn't seem to be flush on anybody's S2000 so I wasn't too worried about. The fit is VERY snug since the mounting height has been raised by a couple mm but that's the way I like it. I just dread the day I need to remove the bumper.

Do you happen to have any "Before" pictures of your bumper? I think I may have a problem similar to yours. It looks that my right rear tire is sticking out further than my left rear and that it might be due to a poorly-fitting bumper...
I have some pictures Not of the bumper, but of the tire difference:
Right Tire
AND
Left Tire
I'll try to add some pictures of the bumper gap difference when I get home.
Argh! I failed reading comprehension...Just realized you don't have any "before" pics.

Also, how well does it feel like the new tabs will hold? You just glued them on correct? They are not actually fastened to the bumper?
Otherwise it looks like a very well done job.
