Default oil cooler install

Just installed an oil cooler and thought it may be of interest

the bits
2 meters hose
half size oil cooler
temp sensor holder
4 x rubber mounts
2 x 90 degree fittings
2 x 45 degree fittings

due to the front of the rad area being full of other stuff the cooler had to go behind the false vent on drivers side, i made a custom bracket to pick up with an existinghole in the chassis leg and two new holes drilled in the wing stiffening bracket

this is the cooler mounted

to get cold air to the cooler i had to cut out the false grill, i roughed it out using a router blade in the dremel then sanded back to the edge with the rotary sanding drum, the mesh is held in using tie wraps

finished view

i used a thermostat sandwich plate to tap into the oil system, all parts sourced from Merlin Motorsport

things to do different
use a sandwich plate with 4 ports so sensors could be mounted in same area
now i know the exact length of pipe i would get pre made hoses with swaged ends
cooler needs to be further to the left to line up better with the vent hole.

hope it helps, if anybody needs any more details just ask

That's the sort of thing I'll be looking at once I've decided on the next FI step for mine.

I also agree on the need for temp/pressure inputs on the plate too.

be carefull when you buy the plate, mine had a lump on one side where the thermostat valve was housed and this limited the position the pipes could exit
it might be worth looking at a remote filter set up if you can find a spot for the filter

Not sure you are going to get good air flow over that rad in that position
Tidy install though!

I like the idea also, anything to keep the temp down on the S/C, and oil flow.

I too would be interested in the details, please

I guess you have no idea of the pressure drop the hose and cooler add?
