Soft Top Seam Coming Undone
A seam on my soft top is more or less coming undone... it's not really a tear. This is located on the drivers side. Additionally the top did not wont to go down yesterday. It would go back about 3/4 and stop. I guess it's time to make a stop at the dealer.

It almost looks like there is a wear mark in this area... the top has a lighter shade here.

Lubricating the pivot points solved my top hesitating to go down... I went to the dealer and showed a service manager the seam. Unfortunately, there were no other s2k's on the lot to reference. We looked at the spot further and from what we could tell there was no actual hole going into the cabin. It almost looks like it's supposed to be this way... it's just odd I never noticed it before The dealer said to watch it and if it gets bigger to let them know.

I had a similar issue; except mine was on the passenger side. But get this... it developed day one on a top that was a replacement for the original. The original was replaced under warranty when I noticed it was developing the too familiar wear holes in the top corners--apparently from rubbing of the rear most support bar. The dealer sent me to a local upholstery shop for install of the replacement. Upon noticing what looked to be seam seperation, the dealer told me the same thing, "to keep an eye on it." That didn't sit well with me, however. So I returned to the installer and asked for their advice. What he did to ease my mind? He took the lower corners of the top (where the seam looked to be seperating) away from the frame and applied a patch (glued) using part of the old top to the underside, covering the seems. This served to reinforce the seem area. Then he returned everything to its original position. So far, so good--its been more than a year and a half ago.
