Update 6/6/13
I fell victim to the dreaded peeling Mugen rear window. If you don't know what that is and have an authentic Mugen hardtop and rear window, you will know some day!!! haha Basically the window has some type of coating on it that starts to flake off like dandruff after years of sunlight exposure. (see this thread for more people that have had this issue. People have wetsanded it to get rid of it, but said it just comes back. There are some glass replacement options out there (like from VIS racing), but they don't fit perfectly as they are slightly too big (meant for replica tops with the glue on seal. Since i messed up my Mugen window trying to wetsand it, i went out and got a new window made.
Best part is that the new window doesn't have a coating or tint on it (it's just darkened polycarbonate), so they guys said it wouldn't have the problem that the Mugen window had. It has UV protection and is said to be good for 7-10 years. That sold me, so i went for it. Seeing as how no one makes a proper rear window replacement for Authentic tops (since all replica windows are the wrong size--both glass and lexan), and real Mugen windows cost $490 + tax + shipping from King Motorsports, it was a no brainer.
I'm very happy with how it came out! Looks to be a worthy replacement!! In this case (and this case only) i say a big F*** you to Mugen for having a deteriorating window and charging so much for replacements!!!
On to the pictures. New window on the left and old busted window on the right.
Mugen seal installed:
installed on my car (don't mind the grainy-ness in some of the photos, it's my camera phone:
View out the back with window installed..so clear

Very nice! I tempted to buy the one you're selling as a preventative measure, but my car is garaged and not daily driven. What's the difficulty of installing the window yourself?

Whoa. I was always under the impression that remove and reinstalling the window was a huge PITA. Is there a DIY that you followed? Hell, maybe you can fix my creaking Mugen top too!

Removing the window takes 5 seconds. just push from inside out. Putting it in takes some finess, but yes, only about 10 minutes this time. Drive to SoCal and i'll do it for you!!

Thanks for the generous offer! When my car is out of the shop, I was planning to take a road trip to SoCal in it. I would take you up on your offer, but chances are the window will be sold by then.

Hit me up regardless! it sounds like your window isn't messed up yet anyway? so why not just take it home with you and install it when your current window starts flaking?
