Default iPod lead for standard 2004 stereo

Hi,

I have used the search function before I decided to post this and trawled through a lot of innocuous results!

Aaanyway, I'm looking for advice on connecting my iPod to my standard CD player in my 2004. I believe theres a simple solution by using a cable that plugs into the CD changer port!

I'm not fussed about anything fancy, as long as I can still adjust the volume and skip tracks with the steering controls. My questions are;

1) What make and model is the 2004 stereo?
2) Does anyone know what the CD changer port looks like for the 2004 stereo?

Thanks!

I use an XcarLink

The above is the current version that has extra option on it, I have an older version. Works well enough on mine with my G2 iPod mini.

There are other devices that also do the same.

What I will say is that I bought mine for about £35 when XcarLink used to sell them through ebay auctions. If paying near £100 you need to consider a replacement head unit that has ipod interface is in that ball park.

I've used Connects2 products in both my S2000 and my previous Civic's standard headunit. Little box hides behind the stereo. One cable from it to the cd changer part of the head unit, and a second cable from the box to your ipod/iphone/mp3 player.

I use a 2 x phono to 3.5mm headphone cable to plug into my iphone as the older connects2 ipod specific systems don't charge the newer iphones.

I've managed to get an OEM Honda adaptor that goes into the cd changer port.

Can this be accessed which the CD player is in situ from the back?

It looks as though the step by step picture guide has been removed and I'm hearing some horror stories about getting the CD player out!

Thanks!

That seems a lot of effort just to remove the stereo though and more things to potentially break too!! Is it not possible to remove the surround with the centre console in situ?

You can certainly get a good look if you crawl into the footwell, so it may be possible, best bet is to get down there and have a look.

Check the link in my sig for a video, but for an AP2 you'll have to remove the surround.

Thanks both. I'm just in the car now.

Not enought room to squeeze my hand in from the back.

I've managed to use a coat hanger on the vents to get the top bit off but how much force do you have to apply to the door as it feels like the clips will break.
