Default Removing Soft Top Installing Hardtop

So i removed the convertible soft top assembly using the manual and realized in order to install the hard top brackets correctly i need the main plates on each side of the convertible top frame. There are 2 allen head bolts that i cannot get out for the life of me. The manual does not state anything about disassembeling these 2 plates which is why i am thinking they are not suppose to come out all easy like. Here is a picture of the plate attached to the frame with the 2 allen head bolts. Does anyone know a way to remove these without destroying them?

If i really have to i can purchase these new for $65 a side but i rather not spend the money

(Thanks to SlowS2k for pointing me in the right direction on those)'

If anyone has gone through this that can give me some information that would be great...

Since you're going through the trouble, have you considered these?

I removed my softtop as well, and these brackets provide a more solid feel than the OEM hardware. Granted, it's a pain to remove the hardtop with this hardware..but I'm assuming since you're gutting the softop/frame...you won't really be taking it off.

And not to mention, you can sell the OEM hardware for around $500. The Izzy brackets cost $90. If you have any questions feel free to ask me, IMO it's the best option if you gut everything soft top related.

I don't think that is meant to come off, pretty sure mine was spot welded on there. If you don't need the frame anymore, you can cut the part you need off like I did. Selling your OEM hardware and going with Izzy might be the way to go like IrishS2K mentioned.

Thanks a lot. By the way i bought the VIS mugen style hardtop. It probably isn't worth selling the mounting hardware... Do you know if those brackets will fit the VIS? They look like they would...

Edit:
I see there is an option below to select OEM Mugen or Mugen Copy. So they should work and only $60 for both side brackets. Thanks A lot!!!!
No Problem ...Enjoy the hardtop!

I'm actually planning on removing my entire soft top assembly as well... Did you ever figure out how to remove the two allen head bolts? Or did you just order new brackets?

I didn't order the brackets, there is enough strength without them.

i removed everything that was associated with the soft top and that bracket shown above is part of the soft top. i don't think you really need it for your hard top at all. i just used the bracket that came with my hardtop and it's fine w/o that bracket you mention of.

It will fit yes but you will have to use nuts to fasten the the bracket to the car because the part removed with the soft top had tapped holes for the two bolts.
