Default Robbins top Vs EZon Autotops

Hi All

There seems to be 2 preferred aftermarket replacement tops with glass windows for our 2000's.

Would like to know which is a better product?
Are there pro's and con's of each product or are they both the same?

Any comments appreciated!

Cheers

They're mainly preferred due to pricing. There's a recent thread where someone posted some additional options and benefits of the various top options. You might want to search for "Electron" as it's a keyword in the thread that isn't used all over the place.

I got the EZon two years ago, and I love it.

It should be noted, however, that my car is a 5,000 mile a year car and is in the garage the majority of the time. Also, the top was professionally installed. I upgraded to the glass window from plastic when I put on the new top and I am VERY happy with that change as well.

My EZon does NOT have a perfect fit. But it works. I only see one flaw aside from my lack of installing correctly

Thanks for the comments!

So stauren1203, do you mean the non-perfect fit was to do with your installation or the product?

Exactly why I had the installation professionally done.

I'm in the process of finding a replacement top. I talked to a local upholstry and they flat out said the Robbins and EZon tops are garbage. The only reason being that it doesn't have a perfect fit and that materials are not better than OEM even though most think so and both companies claim it to be the case.

They directed me towards Electron tops and it make be $300 more but its double layered on the inside and they even put extra materail where the common tear happens. I recently got to see the material and saw the material installed on. Late model Miata. Although its not a s2000, it looked amazing. Tight, sug, and looked a million times better than the Robbins top. I think most gravitate towards these two brands since they are the least expensive options of all of the tops.

Sounds like they are a just trying to sell you a more expensive top for s'more profit.

I just had my EZon top installed a couple weeks ago and it's absolutely perfect. Everything about it is perfect. I'd recommend them to anyone. 5 year warranty?

I've had two Robbins tops; each tore within a year. And I just had my '02 broken into a need a new one; is there consensus regarding what I gather are the other two options? (EZon and Electron?) If one offers better resistance to tearing and other advantages, that would strike me as being worth $300 more, but obviously the weight of experince is the best source here.

Not a fan of the Robbins after fixing a leaking one.

The seam for the rear window is in a different place than the OEM roof. So after 8 years of an OEM roof the molding/seal the rain rail seals against has a depression from the OEM top. Old top had holes and didn't leak, the Robbins had no holes and turned the trunk into an aquarium.

The only way to fix it was to replace the 200$ rear roof molding and seal, plus taking the top back out of the car to fix it.

The Robbins top cost 2X what an OEM top would have cost given the molding and repair labor.
