Default Evan's Tuning E-Tune Review

Hey guys,

Just thought I would share my experience with etuning by Jeff Evans for MY07.

I ordered flashpro from their website and had it on my doorstep in a couple days. I selected the $50 discount for etune as a coupon for ordering the flashpro from them. In response to gernby's posts about the significant power than can be gained with the toda reflash plus test pipe (as opposed to buying the toda header) - I decided to give this a shot. I think what really sold me on the flashpro was that gernby mentioned that hondata should have called it the test pipe reflash instead of the toda reflash.

My current mod list is very basic as I wanted to get a maximum bang for your buck vs. maximum dollar for maximum power.

My mods include the following:
K&N FPIK
61mm ebay test pipe (59mm internal on both ends)
Hondata IMG
Hondata Flashpro
Stock headers, stock exhaust, well stock everything else.

Before I installed the testpipe I had loaded the standard tuned s2k calibration and the car definitely picked up more power, so just from that I was happy with the flashpro. Immediately after I installed the test pipe and flashed to the toda flash - I was VERY impressed with the low end and midrange power that the toda calibration brought and could have left it alone there, but I decided I would go ahead and spend another $150 for the etune to clean up the A/F and knock, as well as optimize fuel mileage for city and highway.

The way the etune works is simple. I ordered the etune and within 24 hours he had a base map for me too work with. He then gives me instructions of various datalogs to perform, for example, cold start, warm start, warm idle, 10 min of highway/city, and then 2 pulls of 3rd gear from 2500rpm's to redline. Before he sent me my first calibration I went ahead and forwarded him the WOT pull I had done on the toda reflash. This helped him to get my very first calibration off to a good start.

He set my VTEC crossover to 3600rpm's which did wonders for the midrange power.

Throughout the many emails and questions I had, Jeff was very prompt to respond and always helped me to understand what he was doing. I felt I had the due diligence of learning as much as I could along the way to understand as much as I could to what he was doing and doing my due diligence to be a good owner. Jeff was just great in this regard and he seemed happy to share his wealth of knowledge to settle all of my questions. Thanks again Jeff!

So, I thought I would share some of the soft dyno that gernby so graciously shared with the community. I also signed up for a 1 month edyno from flashprotuning so I could compare A/F, MAP and of course TQ/HP curves. So on to the screen shots!

Flashpro tuning - Edyno

Settings in softdyno - The green line is just the standard setting that came in the softdyno, RED = TODA, BLUE = EVANS ETUNE

TQ

HP

Knock

Ign/Ret & MAP

Just a note, we aren't 100% done, but this I feel is pretty dang close. Jeff knows his stuff, so if you are on the fence about an etune from him, don't be. Just get it done already!

Sick dude. I will probably be doing the same. I have a K&N also and am getting a berk header and invidia 63.5 mm tp next week. Gonna run the toda for a bit but after a while I'll probably upgrade to this custom tune. Thanks for posting!

No, this is etune # 11 - we've gone back and forth quite a few times now. It's just about close to being done honestly.

Yes he did make small adjustments here and there, it's a very comprehensive tune, car really feels great compared to stock. From 3k-6k it feels similar to how the car used to pull 6k+, and now 6k+ it gives you a nice suck you into the seat feel. It's just great!
