Default who's HORN-eee?

Corny title I know ... but I just spent the last 3 hours installing what was probably the most fullfilling MOD imaginable! I was tired of the whimpy "beep beep" on my AP1, so I read the forums and decided to take the "air horn" dive ... quick call to Griot's Garage and $39.99 and 4 days later my project arrived! Mounting this sucker was tougher than I thought ... someone had mentioned putting it where the old horn was and doing so w/o removing the front bumper - IMPOSSIBLE!! So I took the day off, got out my tools and went to town ... OEM spoiler - OFF, bumper - OFF, little PITA cover thingy where the hoodlatch is - OFF! The one issue on all this are the little phillips "fasteners" on the black cover thingy ... they are almost impossible to remove and reuse, so I decided to go the easy route - new package of 10 for $5.99 @ the local auto parts store. Wiring was fairly easy to follow with the instructions, finding a place to mount the horn was a BREEZE once the bumper was off, sinply installed in on the passenger side front opening behind those little "faux ducts" that I see absolutely zero value ... anyways, once the horn was mounted, wiring done, relay mounted (same spot as horn) I did what every 46 year old kid with a new toy does ... I tooted the horn. AMAZING sound ... loud, but european in sound ... definately worth the $46.00 and 3 hours of head scratching labor! I would definately recommend this MOD to anyone who's tired of a horn that is just a tad bit louder than a Taco Bell fart.

I wish I cound upload photos on here but I cannot ... I will post this exact thread on another site with photos for those interested.

Just tootin' my horn!

The horn on the '00 cars is particularly wimpy, a single horn. I replaced with Hella Supertones, and they were quite an improvement. I just removed the pia cover where the latch is and installed one horn in the original location and the other to the left (driver's side) of it.

The 00 horn is wimpy. I replaced it years ago with twin FIAMM electrostatics. Vast improvement but every few years one would die. I got sick of replacing them so upgraded to twin air horns and a compressor.

A few days ago I got to try them out. I was following a white van into a side street when it stopped. Little did I know he was just using the side street to turn around. He was reversing towards me when I hit the horn. It sounded like the heavens opened and angels trumpeting. The van managed to stop about 6 inches from my bumper.

It would be fun to put one of these on the car but I would probably end up in JAIL

Here is why it would get me in trouble
