MT fluid
Im gonna be doing a full fluid change this week. I wanted to know what you guys suggested for MTF. I have always heard and experienced great things with syncromesh, and i've used (in other cars, not my S) royal purple and talked to people who use royal purple mtf for racing and i also hear great things. however, I never see or hear of people using anything but oem in their s2k's. Why is this?
im planning on using mobil 1 75w90 gear oil for the diff
and if anyone else has any suggestions on fluids, please let me know

use honda MT fluid for tranny. using mobil 1 75-90w is good for diff. i personally think royal purple is overplayed. my plilosophy is just cause pro's use royal purple, doesnt mean your gonna be a pro if you use it too. lol

As long as you meet the requirements laid out by Honda, what you use is up to you. The OEM MTF seems to do very well but wears down over time quicker than some of the other market products. I use Honda MTF, but mainly because I like it.
You should have no issues with either of the two you mentioned as well, again as long as you get the one that meets the specs.

ok thanks. by 'meet the specs' what exactly are the specs for s2k mtf? i read a lot of people saying "just use honda mtf" but im wary about buying that without some info or part numbers because i understand there is a common problem of dealers supplying honda mtf meant for honda pilots and such and isnt meant for s2000's

I think a lot of it comes down to what you feels best when you are driving it. below is the order of favorite to least favorite. I have used all of these fluids before. Currently I am running Amsoil MTF, although I have run all the fluids at least twice.
1) Redline MTL http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=45&pcid=7 (Felt best to me and was easiest to get my hands on, top quality fluid)
2) Amsoil MTF http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?code=MTFQT-EA (not much of a difference in feel than Redline and it a great quality fluid as well)
3) Honda MTF http://www.handa-accessories.com/s2000-04maint.html (felt A LITTLE notchy after a short time. short time = 4000-5000 miles)
There are a lot of reviews here on how people don't like the royal purple stuff, so I would stay away from it. I choose to stay away because of the sheer amount of people who dont like it. I would say go with Redline MTL or Amsoil MTF. I was not disappointed with either. There is also a Amsoil guy here on the board, and he may be able to help you get your hands on that. Take care.
