Default Transmission Popping out of 4th gear...

Hey guys...just recently bought my S and on several occasions after I shifted into 4th the transmission will pop out of gear. It is usually when the car is still warming up. The car is an 07 with just a shade over 21K miles...the car was Honda Certified when I bought it which means the tranny fluid should have been changed correct? Will changing the tranny fluid have an effect on this? Just wondering if anyone can give me some insight...Thanks!

While there was a TSB, it was for much earlier years. Still, the work might fix it.

Does it pop out under all driving conditions? I'd try and warranty it.

Rounded sleeve teeth, or bent fork. Guaranteed.

Trans fluid will not help dont bother.

It usually happens when the cars is still warming up...but yesterday I was in reverse and it popped out of reverse too and made a loud thud

Take that to the dealer as soon as possible. Let Honda deal with it since it's certified. Don't get it back til it's perfect.

It won't be a cheap fix otherwise.

Billman is one of our resident S2000 mechanics, so if he says it, its probably right. Take it back to the dealership, explain that it hasn't been right since you bought it, and insist they fix it or buy it back.

If its any help, I had that happen on second gear when i was decel. I then switched to one quart amisoil and 1 quart Honda MTF and it solved the issue.

Yep. This is exactly the issue I was having when I rebuilt my transmission. (Mine was popping out of 3rd gear) If you check out my DIY on the transmission rebuild you can see pictures of the bad parts that you probably have too. Mine was a combination of rounded sleeve teeth and worn shift forks.
