Exedium Racing Diff Collar Review
First off, I know this is not the tech or mods section but I just wanted to share this with all the Mid-A guys.
So after owning my car for 3 years now, and it being my daily driver I haven't done anything too serious to the car. I dropped it on Espelir's, Whiteline X-Brace and it has a Whiteline FSB and that is it. I usually drive about 50+ miles a day and if you live or ever have been to Hampton Roads, the roads down here suck. So having driven pretty much all over this area for work, I realized that my car felt a little sloppy. It didn't seem like it was pulling when I'm stepping on the pedal and when I would get off the throttle or downshift, it kind of bucked. I wasn't happy to say the least.
After looking around and thinking about replacing my motor mounts, I came across these diff collars. I did a ton of reading and trying to see if there is any negative impact on the differential, I could not find anything conclusive to validate that claim. There are a few other write-ups on and how to swap them in so I tackled it today. I just have to say, this is the best investment I have made on the car thus far.

The car feels much better in every way possible. Now keep in mind, my car is 100% daily w/ 134k miles on it. It has never seen a track in my hands or anything of that nature so my opinion is strictly how it feels on local roads. I noticed that the sloppiness was gone. As soon as I stepped on the throttle it applied the power to the ground, the lag is gone. I did some high rpm and lower rpm rev-match downshifts to see if the bucking was still there and that was virtually gone. Also that jerking that you sometimes get when you let off the throttle was gone too. My rear end used to squat a little more before these collars, I don't know if its in my head but it looks like it squats a bit less. The clutch engagement seems much smoother as well. Overall I am very happy with this product.
Install took about 3 hours. I have a OEM dual so that had to be moved out of the way and the rest was cake. If you are going to tackle this, my suggestion is make sure you do it on a cool day or evening because when its 95+ degrees, it sucks. That is the only negative thing I have to say haha.
I purchased mine from: http://www.vexmotorsports.com/eXediu...ng_c_1960.html
Here is what they look like out of the box:

I know we have a sponsor here that sells them but the sponsor has poor reviews so I searched around a bit and found this website that carries them. It was $103.99 shipped. I opted for the gold ones since its under my car and I could care less about how it looks down there. I received it two business days and the transaction was smooth. They shipped it the same day that I sent payment.
I hope this review serves you well. Sorry if there wasn't a ton of technical data in it. If there is any questions you may have, post it and I'm sure someone that has them can answer it and I will try to as well.

Thanks for the right up! I've been keeping my eye on these and also have never seen a bad review. I just need to stop waiting and spend the money on them. I'm wondering how much of a difference it would make on a lower mileage car?
There is a member that did his at 54K miles, and said he noticed an immediate difference.
Only reason I've been hesitant on these, is that there have been a few people that reported a clunking noise after installing these. Even after everything was torqued down properly. Someone once mentioned it could have something to do with clocking the diff bushings... ???
I just drove a good variation of speed and no clunking. I guess it would have to depend on the bushing. My thought is some bushings that wear out and leak out the fluid have that clunking noise since the collar is rubbing against the metal bushing housing. When I took my bushings out, they were all in good shape and no leaks, and no clunking...yet.
