J35 Swapped S2000 Running, Intercrew Auto Salon
Here it is finally... our J35 swap in an S2000. I know it's really really ugly, but I couldn't wait to post it up online. To my knowledge, we're the first ones with a running J block in the S2000.
J35A4 from a Honda Pilot
AP2 transmission
Running the OEM ECU
Built at Intercrew Auto Salon in Garland, TX (NE Dallas area)
A few things aren't hooked up yet, but the car starts on its own, has all the plumbing connected (minus intake and exhaust), and it pulls like a monster. First startup on the dyno once the fuel system was in place yielded 269hp/286lbft at the wheels, and that was stopping at 5k rpm. Over 220lbft was available right at 2000rpm! The goal is to build up for all motor and turbo, and shoot for 9000rpm to keep us rev-crazy S2000 people happy.
Enjoy, and please ignore the ugly- especially the floppy trunk lid. It'll get cleaned up- I promise.

Is this pretty much a track car/racecar setup with no A/C, powersteering, etc or is all of that stuff functioning still?
I personally have never been a fan of the V6 sound but that power for stock is awesome. How much heavier is the motor?

Right now it's a work in progress. I guess it's currently a race car with a uh... passive air brake. Yeah.
The goal was to have the car street ready before posting anything online, but a lot of people locally have already seen it as they roll through the shop, so it was time to post it. AC doesn't work yet, but we have a place for the compressor- it'll fit just fine. Power steering was working in the video- the wheel was just as easy to turn as a stock S2k. The V6 sound is totally open manifold on both ends, so it'll sound a lot smoother once headers and a proper exhaust are fabbed up to it. It should sound as good as or better than the Nissan VQ engines in the Z and G cars. The goal for my personal version of the J is to still rev up to the S2000's 9k redline, so I'd imagine it would still sound pretty good.
The motor is less than 100 pounds more than stock block. Right now the car weighs in under 2400 pounds and it's really only missing the hood/bumper/support and some plastic, so it's not going to weigh much more than a stock S2000. My fully loaded AP1 was 2810 on the scales a few months ago, and this will probably come out pretty close to that, maybe a little less.

Without looking it up, I think the Pilot and the Odyssey were both available with the J35A4. But yes, the engine came to the shop marked as a Pilot engine.

Did that engine have integrated manifolds? Will you guys be selling an adapter kit for the transmission? Why is this car making such high numbers at the wheel?
I don't want to burden you with all these questions, but I'm interested!
I think the J is a good platform for what it does... You can really mix and swap a bunch of stuff around from the crank to the heads to really get a powerful motor... 300 whp is not hard to obtain with a little bit of work. Thank you for venturing where others have before but failed to give details to this community every time. This is a real winner because of the availability of the J block.
