Default modifry top fix straps

hey guys i just put some modifry straps on the top. I have a question for anybody else that installed these. They are very tight after install and pull the first bar to the second bar pretty hard. when i lower the top they bring the first bar all the way back so when i raise the top i have to pull the first bar to the front with my hands. Im thinking that over the time the straps wont be as tight and it wont happen?

I just installed this as well on my 2005 AP2. While the straps did appear to be tight to my eye, I didn't have to pull any of the support bars at all with my hands when putting the top up/down. I'm not sure what is causing that problem for you.

let me ask you. How loose is your first bar when your top is about half way down?

After first installing Modifry straps on my top I found that the top would not close all the way without forcing it by hand. I unlooped the strap from the rear bar one turn and it fit perfectly. You only need enough tension on the strap for it to be taut, The top should still close all the way (or at least enough that it will finish closing when you close the latches)without manual intervention.

Sounds like you over wrapped/tightened it. Perhaps relook at your install?

i installed them a few years ago and they are very loose now and do not do much. I guess if i rewrap them more times they may continue to work, stretched out.....so yours should be fine, the original installation was a perfect mod when the straps were new.

They're elastic just like the OEM ones. Doesn't matter who makes them, the material will wear out over time.

You should use the Honda ones and install them per the service bulletin. When done that way, they work perfectly. If I remember, the factory ones are really not very costly and install a little bit differently than the original ones. You should be able to pull the bulletin up on line or stop by your Honda dealer and ask them to print it out for you.
