Default Dealership review requested

Hi All,

These 2 dealerships seem to have a ton of S2000's for sale. Has anyone had any experience with them? Are their cars legit, or do they generally have issues?\

Southern California Auto Sales/California Motors Direct

Thanks!

Seeing this post made me want to register and warn you- that's how bad this "dealership" is. Don't waste your time there. Southern California auto sales is the older of the two and the one I have direct experience with, but California motor cars is also owned/run by the same people. Just take a look at yelp reviews of Sckars here (better yet, look them up in the better business buereu): http://www.yelp.com/biz/southern-cal...ales-fullerton

Background: Already have owned an s2k for 3 years. A friend of mine decided to go into this store looking for an s2k and I happily tagged along to give him my opinion of the cars they had/etc.

First impression: pretty freaking shady place with terrible customer service. We walked around in the lot looking at the s2ks (they had 5-6 or so) for like 25 mins til someone approached us (they are in the front of the lot). Anyway, other than the poor salesstaff, the cars they advertise online are VERY different from what they actually have (ie, the MY are generally older with more milage, yet they post younger cars to get people to come into their lot). Also, a lot of their cars, while the few pics online might look ok, are dinged up and a few were missing half of their decals. My friend and I decided to test drive one of the younger AP2s anyway.

Test drive: car did not at start on first attempt for me, salesmen assured me because it hasn't been driven in 2 weeks (lol). Car did not shift gears smoothly, especially getting into 1st and then 1-2 and 2-3. I tried shifting at various RPMs on this MY07 but it didn't feel smooth relative to my S. As soon as I brought some issues up regarding the engine /tranny to the salesmen, he would change the subject and talk about something else (oh we actually put in Bluetooth for this car, etc).

Afterwards: My friend talked to the salesman about price after the test drive, just to get an idea of what they were going for here. Yes, their price was on par (maybe even a little lower) than what 07s were going for with minimal negotiation... When they pressed us about buying/when we'd return, my friend mentioned he'd want to have a mechanic to have check out the car before moving further. As soon as he said that, they came up with a ton of excuses saying that they already inspected it, here's the carfax, etc. Having driven the car myself, there's no way I'd buy it (with or without my mechanic saying it's ok). Even though the carfax was clean, something was definitely off about that S2k, whether it be unreported/undisclosed damage, incorrect milage, etc.

I had no clue this place was so terrible when I came in and neither did my friend. Once you drive their cars, I guarantee you will feel the same way. After I test drove, and while my friend was test driving, I curiously pulled up this business on yelp and saw that I wasnt the only person who was sketched out by this place.

If you genuinely care about your s2k, you wouldnt get it from here.

Don't overlook Google. Second hit for Southern California Auto Sales was Yelp with 1.5 stars over 21 reviews.

I did read yelp reviews, but I always take those reviews with a grain of salt. Some of those reviews(if overly positive) could be from the dealership themselves, and if they are overly negative, it could be from pissed off customers that didn't get what they wanted(some customers are just plain ridiculous with their expectations), or from competing dealerships.

This community however tells it like it is, so wanted to throw it out there. I do appreciate all the input, and its taken. I'll keep this link so that if anyone asks me in the future, I'll redirect them here!
