Lots of other threads about- #24 post is interesting but dont know the poster personally.

A real problem that needs serious investigation, especially for the M3 drivers out there?

Old news now, this has been going on for months and months.

BMW are doing nothing about it,if the quote here is correct: http://jalopnik.com/5923802/watch-ha...-three-minutes

UPDATE: Jalopnik has received a response from BMW's UK Media Relations Manager, Gavin Ward. It's very similar to the response given to forum posters previously:

"The battle against increasingly sophisticated thieves is a constant challenge for all car makers. Desirable, premium-branded cars, like BMW and its competitors, have always been targeted. BMW has been at the forefront of vehicle security for many years and is constantly pushing the boundaries of the latest defence systems. We work closely with the authorities and with other manufacturers to achieve this."We are aware of recent claims that criminal gangs are targeting premium vehicles from a variety of manufacturers. This is an area under investigation."We have a constant dialogue with police forces to understand any patterns which may emerge. This data is used to enhance our defence systems accordingly. Currently BMW Group products meet or exceed all global legislative criteria concerning vehicle security."

Couple of easy fixes for this. I believe the 1 series is the easiest to target due to the ODB port being an alarm blind spot.

Keyless entry cars are a problem too, like the Astra VXR... So easy to program a fob with software and plug in off ebay!

None of the Stoplock products will fit my steering wheel - it's too short and fat (no ... the steering wheel )

edit: @Nottm_M3 maybe so but you are a fk sight closer to the pikey brummies than me, so good luck

I cba with devices like that, used to use on on the S when i worked on an ind estate moons ago. If they cant nick it like this theyll try the aggravated method

You're probably safe with a manual

A simple alarm that plugs into the OBD socket and sets off if the plugs removed
Won't stop the scum from getting into the car but hopefully if the siren is loud enough they will make a sharp exit.
