Read carefully....

I don't know if anyone understands what is going to transpire over the next few weeks. I have been working with and speaking with disaster specialists.

I urge everyone that is able bodied, that has their own situations under control, and if your jobs have been put on hold and you have the time, get out there and volunteer. Call your fire department and police....better yet stop by, tell them your abilities and ask how you can help. I am making a difference in my town, please do the same for yours.

For some, help is weeks away. The work at hand is equivalent to building a city. I will be without power for weeks...BIG DEAL! People will be without jobs, food, and homes for a long time if the manpower does not increase.

Tell your friends, tell your family. Lets use the power of s2ki to help get the word out. We can share with the world how to fix an s2k, lets do it for our towns and future.

The reason people suffered so much during Katrina was because first responders were busy saving their own flesh and blood...as you would do for your wife and children. Those poles that lie in the middle of the road that seem untouched are there because the manpower is not there.

Go out and give a few hours for free, and you will receive a type of "paycheck" that words or money cannot describe.

I will give 2 hrs per day before work everyday until my town is back in shape.

10-4 been doing it already and spreading the news too... Everything is F'd up from the water systems to gas and electric... People think Sandy is done, but there is more devastation than was expected.. some engineers don't even know where to begin with assessing the damage and how to fix it.... I'm going to breezy point and the rockaways to help out.. that area. Is a disaster... Anyway keep up the good work bill, as for me I don't even know what my wife or house looks like cause I haven't been home since Fri.... Every1 be careful look at your surroundings for low hanging wires and plz look out for branches that might come down outta nowhere, they don't call them widow makers for nothing....be safe metro

Bill-

You couldn't be more right. The personal payback can't be measured. I hunted down about 40 gallons worth of gas cans this morning, just so I could fill them and bring them to some friends in need down near the NJ Shore, plus water and some basic food supplies. The payback is to see smiles on people's faces that are facing very difficult times. Both of my friends have children with special needs, one of which requires medical equipment at night to keep her heartbeat regular.

My company has opened its doors to friends and families to use the gym for showers, cafeteria for food, power for charging equipment or getting connected to the outside world.

Luckily, my area is coming back towards normalcy, with more and more with power and open businesses every day since Tuesday. I'll have to investigate to see if there are known pockets still in need in the area. Cindy's company is already working on a food drive, and I have a separate one I'll be at Saturday already.

Gonna stop down the local 7-11, there's a bunch of day laborers hanging out there. Think they would volunteer? Seems they want to be a part of the community, right?
