Default Cooling plates

Which cooling plate would be ideal for use with an K&N FIPK?

If you're looking for function over form, then you should just get some of the silver reflective bubble insulation from Home Depot, and cut a piece to fit the area you want to cover, then use foil tape to seal around it.

I think the cooling plate he is talking about has that funnel that acts as a air ram to the filter. I am also a fan of the self adhesive duct work insulation

The ones with snorkels probably provide the best capability, otherwise, whatever fits what you are looking for aesthetically.

I don't know if any vendor sells the AUT plate. You can buy the immitations on eBay all day long, or buy the "original" here: http://www.autotecknic.com/product_p/ho-0001.htm

Many people have had success with the eBay versions, and some are better than others. Some have had to dremel out the mounting holes for more clearance, etc.

I personally have an Alloy Craft cooling plate and think it looks better than the AUT... a bit cleaner for my tastes.

I agree i just liked how the snorkel would be directed towards the air filter on the k&n.. the snorkel probably does very little bit tho... well its between alloy and aut... hmmm

I have *HEARD* that in order to have the AUT plate be "effective" at redirecting air into the intake you must remove the slotted air diffuser that sits below where the cooling plate mounts, and that this would effectively be robbing air from the radiator. My personal opinion is that the only way to ensure that ambient air makes it to the intake is to pipe it in using ducting from the front bumper opening. I would expect to see minimal if any difference in intake air temperatures by JUST installing the AUT (or any other) style cooling plate.

They do compliment the stock airbox and the K&N FIPK nicely by LOOKING like they are directing air to that location though. I researched these heavily myself, and a main reason why I didn't get this kind was because I installed a CT supercharger before I made a move on one. They don't look right at all with the CT kit. Therefore, I got Alloy Craft and now like it much better than the AUT. Though like I said, I have seen one in person installed on a car with a FIPK and they do go nicely together.
