Well, I checked my calculations, and I messed up the offset correction.

I think I need to use the following figures:

OEM R1 Swingarm I.D. = 242mm SwingarmCenter = 121mm
Wheel Center (with 15mm offset Arm) = 136mm / 106mm to Swingarm
Reduce Wheel Hub/Spacer Width 22mm Sprocket Side (136-22=114mm)
Increase Wheel Hub / Spacer Width 8mm - Brake Side (106+8=114mm)
Decrease Swingarm I.D. 14mm from 242mm to 228mm

I hope this will center the wheel!

-Pete
Measure twice, cut (order) once.

I wanna' see pictures, even if it's just pieces laying in the workshop.

The rear sets, Toomey pipes & intake, Ohlins steering damper, clip-ons, and other parts will be donated to my other RZ. The gold canister under the seat is a remote resevior for the Ohlins rear shock.

I'll get better pics soon.

The OEM side casing on the clutch side has an additional cover for the water pump and oil pump (which I trashed years ago in favor of premixing). This also leaves a couple of holes on top of the casing where the oil lines used to go.

I was lucky to find this new Banshee billet aluminum side cover with no oil pump provision. This side casing isn't available any more and I've never seen one on an RZ350:

I'm going to shave the logo and polish it to match the new stator billet side cover:

Just to confuse the issue, I received this from Dymag - this is the drawing for the OEM 2001 R1 rear wheel:

I was told by Maria at JMC that the R1 rear swingarm/wheel has a 15mm offset, but after measuring the dymag wheel drawing (above), the offset looks like 16.8mm. Of course, that's based on the 242mm swingarm I.D. measurement I got from JMC.

Here are the changes I calculated for the Dymag wheel - I don't know if they can make the wheel to these specs, yet.

Custom swingarm I.D. = 228mm
Custom wheel (199.2mm) + Custom brake hanger (28.8mm) = 228mm

So far, Dymag has been awesome with their communication and information!

I just sent in the modified drawings yesterday, and I've already received 3 return emails from 2 different people from Dymag.

My modified drawings have been passed by their technical department! In addition, one of their technicians wrote: "We can modify any wheel we make, to fit any bike on the market." I was very impressed with that statement.

This doesn't mean my calculations are correct, but I'll recheck the numbers to the best of my ability.

I haven't received any new feedback from JMC about the swingarm, yet. They might be going nuts because I sent in 3 different drawings. I'll contact them again and see what's up.

s2kpr01 - Everything okay?

-Pete
