Why can't you have your cake and eat it too?

I know CUV's are an automotive segment increase every year. But I think they look completely stupid, and in many cases don't even have the cargo of a hatchback, and a wagon cargo capacity slays it. So it has compromises all around. If the compromises, you can live with them, then I understand. But I know people in WRX's and STi's in the snow belts that don't complain about ground clearance, and say it's never been an issue. It's not like these CUV's come with Bilsteins or suspension set up to go offroad.

Minor? Depends on compared to what. Had a Macan for 24 hours last month as a loaner, scared the cr*p out of me.
Remember the Nissan Pulsar with Sportbak option? Gimme something like that, only with a competent 21st Century suspension and engine, so I can go shopping.

You've entered the twilight zone, where people on a sports car forum lament about the days of yore behind the wheel of an arguably terrible compact SUV (aka: CRV).
If you have to drive a CUV, it would seem the CX-5 is hands down the obvious choice. Looks great, drives well, is fun -- well, as fun as a CUV can be, and doesn't feel like it's struggling to get up hills like the CRV did.

I, too, don't understand your comment. I test drove a Macan Turbo a few months ago and thought it was fun, for what it was. Felt like I was sitting in my Cayman...when I have my Cayman lifted on jack stands

Probably what he meant, then. Felt like he was going to topple over at any moment?
