Air source heat pumps are the future if you don't mind spending the initial outlay.

A 3KW heater will cost nearly 40p an hour to run and that soon mounts up. An air source heat pump will use 1.5KW but output 4.5KW of heat. I spent the money on getting one (£400) and installed it myself in the garage much like a conventional air conditioning system.

It heats the garage up in no time when i need to work on the car and on the flip side when its boiling outside and you need to do some work you can switch it to AC mode and cool the garage down.

I got a desiccant dehumidifier in the garage and that does a great job of keeping everything in the garage rust and damp free. It does use a fair amount of electric thou

that is very true but this is to stop me cooling down in the gym, not to heat my mollycoddled car

it heats surfaces, not air and is very effective for how i use it which is to lift some weights, then stand around for 2 mins before doing the same again. that standing around is done basking in the infrared radiation glow

I can guarantee that if I lifted weights near a car, one would fall off the bar...

You are a brave man.

haha i'm never close, close.. the bike is more of a worry stashed on the other side of the car. I've done a few things with that, chock under the side stand, rear paddock stand, all of which are risking it falling on the mollycoddled S.

I ought to rig a strap at the top really but i'm hoping it warms up in a few months and it becomes my daily again
