hi all
thought I had read about a shortcut to get the vtec to engage about 1000 rpm sooner by linking two pins in the engine management together
anyone got further infor on this?

Very dodgy and not advised.

You wouldnt be able to do it just by linking wires at the ECU either. You would need a controller.

A resistor maybe... But still a v bad idea.

The fuelling and timing needs to be adjusted to suit also.

Never heard of it, and wouldn't advise it either, best bets a vtec controller, try a search for apexi vafc on ebay etc. Even still it may bring Vtec in earlier but alot of people have come to the conclusion that it doesn't make the car go any quicker

VTEC Controllers are a gimmick IMO - unless ou can adjust the fuelling and timing (like with a remap or new ECU) there's little point.

Only way to make useful power from the high cam lower down the rev range is from re-timing the cams, and remapping. That's a really long way from shorting two pins on the ECU...

Yeah but could this work, take 12v power to a switch, then 2 wires to #10 on connector C and the other to #12 on connector B, flick the switch, straight onto high cam.

I fail to see the point of lowering vtec. I would be MUCH more interested in getting vtec to last 500rpm longer than get it in 500rpm soon and I'll also put my money on the S2000 with the 9500rpm limiter being faster too
