Tired of my hot wagon, need some excitement
Herro!
I'm a 28 year old guy that's had my fair share of cars, including a 99 E36 M3, lots of subies that I used to rallycross with, and currently I'm down to one car with my 2006 Volvo V70R 6MT. For those that aren't familiar it's a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing (sheepish, it looks a little hot)... 300hp turbo inline 5 with AWD, adjustable dampers and Brembo 4 piston brakes all around. It's a great car to drive (I love beating STIs and Evos with my mom wagon at autox), but a terrible car to own. Maintenance has been... well let's just say I have an auto-savings account that dumps 200 bucks a month into a bucket and I've been barely staying above water with that. For the entire 4 years I've owned it. Sigh.
Anyway, that spawned me to want a little roadster to balance out my 3700 lb beast. First it was a Miata, then a NB Mazdaspeed, and now I'm thinking an S2000 would do it. Or a Boxster S, but I'm not keen on that maintenance.
Here is the real question I'd love if someone could answer. I am a HUGE fan of that F20 scream. I also like the more raw handling as I'm very comfortable sliding/oversteering and look forward to that type of driving. At the same time HOLY CRAP THE AP2 IS BEAUTIFUL. Now given the choice, II think I'd probably buy an AP1 and then put AP2 parts on it, but is that dumb? Is it not that huge a difference in driving the two cars? Keep in mind I've never driven an S2000. And if anyone is in CT I'd love to come meet you and drool all over your car.
Cheers!

Alright so thanks to you lovely folks I picked up this S2000 and have been absolutely blown away by it. My E36 M3 felt fat in comparison to this. This is the most laughably connected and thrilling car I have ever driven. I drove it to work, and when I got back I took an hour detour just so I could enjoy it more. What a car.
You guys are doin it right!
