Default Adding Rear Window Defroster Option to S2000

Hi all.

I am looking to add the rear window defroster option to my model year 2000. The car currently has the OEM soft top with the crappy plastic window. The window and top have seen better days and will be replaced come Spring for a new soft top with glass/defrost option. I just purchased the AP1 specific defroster switch. However, I am unsure of the actual harness that is required. Is the hardtop harness the same harness required for the soft top window? Or am I mistaken? Searching didn't really help..

Thanks in advance!

Good question, I have an 01, with an OEM glass soft top, I could use the defroster option myself. I'll keep myself posted, sorry i couldn't chime in.

I reached out to hardtopguy. I've purchased from him in the past has been helpful with questions before. Hopefully he can shed some light on this. I'll update if I hear back.

If you're not set on oem parts, check this wiring kit out.

FYI to anyone who may come across this thread in the future. Hardtopguy helped out big time. I purchased the hardtop defroster harness from him and he made the modifications necessary. So I installed the modified harness, relay, switch and switch plate this past weekend - the installation was a success and the defroster is indeed working with the OEM hardtop. I will test out the defroster for the soft top sometime in the Spring, when I replace the OEM plastic window soft top for a glass version.

Can you provide a list of part number for the items you used to install the defroster harness. Thank you
