Complete Type R K20C1 Motor Now Available

A More Complete Crate

The Honda Civic Type R's turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder power plant is one of the most capable four bangers in the world today. And given its versatility, it's no surprise to see that builders are swapping these bad boys into their race cars. And in addition to the bare-bones K20C1 crate motor, Honda Performance Development (HPD) will be offering the unit along with an ECU and wiring harness.

Easier to Build

The inclusion of the HPD Controls package makes it easier for builders to integrate the power unit into their build. You won't need to source the ECU and electrical setup from an aftermarket source and try to figure it out on your own anymore. The new crate engine package includes all of that, and more.

What Comes With the Package

The current crate comes with the 2.0-liter ICE and the turbocharger, of course. And it also includes the starter, alternator, intake, and direct fuel injection. But with the updated package, in addition to the aforementioned items, customers will also receive the HPD Controls package, which includes the ECU, engine harness, and accelerator pedal.

Locked ECU

The ECU will be engineered for usage on the race track, and therefore, will no be legal for use on the street. It will also not be tunable. HPD has designed the setup to maximize the performance of the K20C1 while maintaining its legendary Honda reliability.

Open to All Racers

Perhaps the best part of this new crate package is that it will be available to all racers. Whereas up until now, the K20C1 crates have only been available to members of the Honda Racing Line, the new crate will be available for purchase by any active racer. That means you'd need to be a member of a nationally recognized sanctioning body and have race results from at least two races in the past year.

Price and Availability

For those eagerly waiting for the newly improved crate package, it will be available starting May 1st. HPD have announced the pricing info for the new crate. The original crate engine is priced at  $6,790, and the crate package that includes the HPD Controls Package will cost $9,000.
