1. Preparing Your Wheel

After removing your wheels and separating them from the tires, power wash them thoroughly. Make sure there is no dirt, debris, or anything on the wheels. Use some sandpaper to sand down any curb rash and make sure all of the wheels' surfaces are as clean and smooth as they can possibly get.

2. Sandblast the Wheels

If you don't have the proper equipment to sandblast the wheels at home, research any places near you that could quickly do it for you. Sandblast all four-wheels, and make sure to sandblast around the edges as well, this ensures you have a smooth, even look across the whole wheel.

3. Hang the Wheels

In a nicely ventilated booth, choose a location to hang the wheels in. Use a bolt and a nut and put it through the air stem hole, this ensures you leave almost no area untouched when you're powder coating the wheel. You must get creative with what you will use to hang the wheels from, but anything would work, even a hook in the ceiling.

4. Powder Coat the Wheels

Before you get started with the wheels, make sure you go and preheat a large oven to 400 degrees F. Then, using your powder coating gun, cover the wheel all around with an even coating of the powder, including the rough edges. However, you don't need to cover the areas that the tire will cover because it would be a waste of paint.

5. Put the Wheels in the Oven

With the oven heated to 400 degrees F, put the wheels in it. Leave the wheels in the oven for 20 minutes so the powder coating can truly cure on it; however, be sure to follow the instructions that came with your specific powder coating, because each company uses slightly different methods. Be sure to let the wheels cool before putting the tires on them.
