In the Family

While the F20C and F22C1 are fantastic engines often lumped in with the greatest of all time, there are some that choose to ditch those powerplants in favor of something else - whether that be GM's LS V8 or another in-house Honda motor. The K24 has become a popular swap candidate for S2000 owners in particular, and that's precisely what sits in the engine bay of this cool build recently featured by Web Option magazine.

American JDM

This particular build hails from Ballade Sports, a Southern California tuning shop that also happens to make and sell K24 swap kits for the S2000. This Berlina Black roadster is the flagship for those wares, and it perfectly embodies the company's Americanized JDM style that it has perpetuated for years now.

Spoon Catalog on Wheels

Those wares include a full array of Spoon goodies such as its full aero kit with S-TAI front and rear bumpers, Volk wheels, a Voltex swan neck rear wing, and Spoon front brake calipers, to name just a few. However, it's what lies under the hood of this sweet ride that makes it extra special.

Cheap and Plentiful

That is, of course, a Honda K24 that's been detailed to the max, and it certainly looks like a polished jewel sitting in the engine bay. The beauty of such a move is the K24 is cheap and easy to modify and make big power, and it's also quite plentiful in terms of availability.

Solid Performer

In this case, Ballade has left well enough alone and simply stuck with a stock K24, which produces 210 horsepower at the wheels, out of the box. It still does quite well for itself, however, running 1:58.2 lap times around Buttonwillow Raceway consistently.

Everything Works

This particular build retains all of the niceties one would expect from a modern sports car as well, including air conditioning and power steering, while all of the gauges and other functional items still operate as they should, too.

Easy Endeavor

There are many reasons why K swaps are so appealing to S2000 fans, and the ability to upgrade in terms of displacement while also keeping it in the Honda family is certainly one of them. Luckily, there's at least one company out there working to make that swap an easy endeavor.
