LBP AP2 Is S2ki Member's (Supposedly) Very Last S2000

Like a good potato chip, most S2000 owners can't stop at one, including this S2Ki member.

Potato Chips

For many of us, the S2000 is like a tasty potato chip. You just can't stop at one. Many members here in the S2Ki forums have owned several of them, some at the same time. That includes Canadian144, who is currently on his third car, which he swears will be his last. But if that turns out to be true, at least he's making this one really, really good. And he's also documenting the process in this build thread.

Opportunity Knocks

The OP was satisfied with his last S2000 but had his reasons for wanting another one. "Before I picked this one up, I was pretty happy with where my AP1 was, but I really wanted to boost it. So I started looking for an '06-'09 AP2 so I could tune it on FlashPro. I was particularly interested in an LBP car, but having never been sold new in Canada, I knew my chances of finding one were slim. So I spent about a month looking for a decent example in the U.S. This car popped up sale about an hour and a half from Toronto. The car came mostly stock except for the Kraftwerks Supercharger kit, so it seemed like a perfect starting point. She’s super mint with all original paint, all VINs, and no CarFax claims."

Slight Problem

The OP proceeded to drive his new car through the summer, slowly swapping parts over from his AP1. Things went well for a while until several VTEC solenoid bolts decided to part ways. Thankfully, the car didn't lose too much oil in the process. The OP replaced the three bolts with APR hardware and moved on to bigger and better things.

Winter is Coming

That included the Forbidden 2-piece hardtop brackets/RSG hardtop and Billman Gen-X TCT from the AP1. And as winter lurked, the plan started to come together. "Further winter plans include swapping all the suspension components over from my AP1, replacing the bumper/fenders, a few upgraded cooling components, and a bunch of maintenance items. The new front end, hood, and hardtop will be resprayed in the spring."

Winter Projects

It wasn't long before that work began. The OP removed the front fenders and found a set locally that had already been rolled, along with an ASM front bumper. In the meantime, he also began working on the engine, including the installation of an all-new cooling system and a complete valve seal job.

Tedious Process

Once the head made it back from the machine shop, reassembly could begin. Little by little, new components started making their way on to the AP2, from Ohlins coilovers to stainless steel brake lines and about a thousand other things. The new TE wheels went on, and the OP started to play around with ride height and fitment. Soon, the car was up and running. Not to mention looking great.

Puzzle Pieces

The last piece of this puzzle was, of course, some fresh paint to match up all of those new pieces. And needless to say, that turned out great. But the OP isn't quite done with his "last" S2000 just yet. In fact, he's added several more mods to the car so far this year. So be sure and head over here to catch up with this awesome build and stay tuned for future progress!
