Taking It Further

On its own accord, the S2000 Club Racer is a nimble, quick, and highly satisfying machine on the track. Many call it the ultimate iteration of Honda's drop top sports car. However, Leng Qing wanted to take his CR a bit further in every regard, and wound up creating this cool liveried ride that we recently spotted over at Car News.

Maintaining Balance

Qing's goal was to retain the supreme balance his car already had, without upsetting it by giving it too much of anything, especially power. In fact, he hasn't given it any power upgrades of any kind. Instead, Qing focused on improving the CR's handling, braking, and naturally, looks.

External Goodies

On the outside, that includes goodies like ASM wide body fenders, an ASM rear bumper, a Voltex rear wing, and an FRP hood. To reduce weight, Qing sourced a few carbon-fiber pieces including the doors, roof, and trunk lid. The attractive package rolls on a set of 17" TWS forged wheels, which are wrapped in Bridgestone RE12D rubber.

Track Only

The interior is a pure race car, with a stripped-out interior containing a single Racetech seat and a six-point harness, and little else. It's pretty clear that Qing's intentions were to use this car at the track, not as a comfy street cruiser. But isn't that really what the CR is all about, anyway?

Stock Looking

The original F22C resides under the hood, in pretty much stock configuration. But quite a few custom pieces have been made around it, including the aluminum auxiliary fuel tank and water tank. And the real magic is what lies underneath it all - the stuff you can't see.

Suspension Upgrades

Underneath, you'll find a host of goodies including Stoptech brakes with four-piston calipers, an Eibach two-stage adjustable anti-roll bar, Swift springs coupled with Tein Super Racing Circuit shocks, and a few other tricks that Qing wasn't quite ready to divulge.

Purpose Built

Put it all together, and you've got one pretty wicked little package. Qing's Club Racer may be a stripped-out racer, but it's a purpose-built machine, and that purpose is lapping the local circuits as fast as possible. And personally, we applaud him for taking this cool car to the very next level.
