Purpose Built

We've seen our fair share of stock and modified Honda S2000s cross various auction blocks around the world in recent years, oftentimes raking in big money. But this wicked Time Attack S2000 that recently crossed the block at Bingo Auctions is something a bit more special than most - a purpose-built racer that goes as good as it looks.

Functional Beauty

A company called Top Fuel modified this particular S2000 specifically for Time Attack racing, which is obvious by the car's wild bodywork. All of those wings and canards were designed with purpose, however, and developed in an actual wind tunnel, so they're every bit as functional as they are cool to look at.

All Business

Peek inside the cabin, and you'll find that this interior is nothing but business as well, with highlights including a full roll cage, a set of Bride GT full bucket seats, a carbon fiber dashboard, and an NOS tank for when the driver needs a bit of an extra boost out on the track.

Stunning Numbers

Pop the hood, and you'll find a familiar site - Honda's legendary inline four-cylinder powerplant - but in heavily modified form, with goodies including a GCG/GTX3582R turbo that helps it make over 1,000 horsepower - a truly stunning figure. That powerplant is mated to a Holinger 6-speed sequential transmission fitted with an ATS double-plate carbon clutch for strength.

Record Setter

Many motorsports fans will likely recognize this particular S2000, as it was built with no restrictions and went on to set several track records in Japan. That includes a best lap time of 51.762 seconds at the Tsukuba circuit, which was a record for a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive car at the time.

Long Career

The S2000 went on to also set records at Fuji Speedway, Suzuka, and Okayama before competing in WTAC (World Time Attack Challenge) in Australia in 2012 and 2013. Now, it has found a new home, and we imagine that whoever was lucky enough to secure the winning bid is pretty thrilled about it, because we certainly would be.
